This school has major discipline issues the students roam the hallways whenever they please are disruptive in classes and think they can get away with anything in the school. I've seen video after video that kids have recorded from their phones showing the kind of stuff that goes on in the class rooms and it might as well just be a big indoor playground. The main focus (and possibly the only focus) is on athletics. When attending any athletic event here mainly football and basketball beware (especially the students of the visiting school) every single time I go to a game there the magnolia student section is always causing trouble and what's worse about it is the parents and the fans of the school are either encouraging it or ignoring it. Every time there is always a group of students that roam along the visitors side that yell profanities at the visiting students bands cheerleaders and football players and there have even been cases that I've witnessed where students have been attacked. This school really is out of control what they need is someone to step up and put an end to all of this insane behavior.

I was an exchangestudent at Magnolia High School in 2010. I came to a completly strange country and I didn't know anyone. But the students and teachers took me in and made me feel like I belongd there. They made it one of the best years of my life and I don't regreat going there at all. My english was poor when I first came but the teachers helpt me along the way and in the end i only had top grades. Coming to a knew country I also notice that alot of students at Magnolia complained because they though that everything would work out without making an efford! WRONG! That's why atheltets get good grades because they know they have to work hard to get good grades and be good at sports!

Magnolia is a great school yes there are some things that need improvment but all in all i feel its one of the best around here. As far as the athletes getting more attention yes they do get more attention because not only are they great athletes but the are very respectable individuals most if not all are honor students and are very involoved in the school and community. Opinions of Magnolia are different depending on who you ask. If you ask a student that is involoved are in lots of clubs sports or whatever they love Magnolia however if you ask a student that is only there because they have to be make horrible grades and just are not happy individuals they make up excuses like "well i don't make good grades and get to do special things because i don't play football" your experience at Magnolia is what you want it to be. The school strives for excellence and if your not on the same page then no they really don't care they care about the ones that care about them. I am not only a parent with a child in Magnolia i am also an alumni i have now seen it from both perspectives and am very pleased with both sides!!

As you can see with this post everything and I mean everything revolves around athletics. As for education if your child has the right last name they are almost guaranteed an A or B and never to have to deal with any discipline actions. Yes there are a few great teachers in this school but their hands are usually tied by the politics of New Martinsville. All in all Paden City is a better choice.

MHS is actually in the top 10 % of schools in the state of west virginia for substance abuse suspensions.....think twice and choose wisely!

I am a freshman at Magnolia and I have to say it is a terrific school. I am in the band on the cross country team and participate in plays. The teachers here are great and for the most part easy to get along with. The school is filled with talented students. I only wish there were more AP and college classes than we have. The only bad thing I have found at Magnolia is that the food is unhealthy despite the school board's big thing on healthier eating. There is also a little bit of an irritating focus on the football players but that is tolerable I guess. Not like it isn't that way at every other school in this nation. I do think some more funding and support would be nice for other sports though.

The Band is the best in the state and Tri-State. If you want your child to take part in the Arts... THis is the place!

Disipline of this school is not what it should be. Students are out of control. Students roam the halls at all hours of the school day and teachers just let them out of class. Academics suffer because of Magnolia's concentration on its athletic programs.

The only thing Magnolia cares about is athletics. I pulled my kids out and sent them to Tyler County.

From my experience with my two kids I can say that Magnolia high school is a great school the majority of teachers are very good they care about the kids and their well being but also give them the opportunity to develop social and leadership skills.

The teachers are decent but the food is unsatisfactory for an athlete. The athlete's that have practice after school need the energy from a school lunch but the school lunches are low on carbs.
