Regents Exams (RE)

In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and several foreign languages. The results for English language arts, math, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics, global history and geography, and US history and government are displayed in GreatSchools profiles. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.

I was a student at the Academy of American studies until sophomore year. The school spirit is strong and also the school has so many events through the year. There are indeed some students which are trouble makers but all schools has its flaws. But mostly all of the students there are great. You can have more freedom to go around during study hall and grab a meal at the near grocery. The basketball team is great also the coach is a really nice person u will enjoy it

It's a small school where everyone knows each other . Most of the teacher are really great such as Ms Jaffe she's not a teacher only. The way she teaches you is just inspiring she teaches about the meaning of life the world people. Mrs Greenspam she makes boring biology as interesting as a fiction book. Ms Toro she is not only a teacher but she is your friend. It's really a great school.

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. This school has very unprofessional staff almost no choices in elective classes poor facilities and is extremely overcrowded. They brag a good reputation for American history while neglecting science and math classes with very poor staff in those areas no science labs even some humanities teachers are not good. If you have an issue with a teacher mistreating you here- good luck. Because there is nobody to complain to either. Staff acts like this school is all that when it is not going here robs a student of a high school experience and does NOT prepare them for college. Facilities are a nightmare and a fire hazard classes are held in extremely cramped classrooms and during passing hallways are a nightmare. This school brags maybe three teachers who actually know what they are doing and are qualified while the rest are rude unprofessional and inexperienced. There is a lot of favoritism that occurs in this school from multiple staff members amongst other unfair things. DO NOT go here you will regret it! This school gets away with countless violations somehow and it is at the expense of students. I am glad to have graduated.

our school really dives into things that are needed for college. let it be preps for sat or even to little things as to how you should write a well organized essay in college. i also really love how our school is so small that the teachers know the students and vice versa which in my opinion is really great.

The Academy is a very good school even though we are not our own building we are all very together the teachers are always there to help you when you need it they teach with enthusiasm and are fun. We are offered great programs and i never felt left out of anything i have been learning to get more involved with school stuff thanks to the support of teachers and the people from the academy. And most importantly it gets you ready for college as best as it can...I love my school.

There are no word to express the dedication and professionalism and enthusiasm of everyone at the Academy of American Studies from the staff/administrators and students. All who visit the school are welcomed with open arms. My son this might sound a little strange can wait for the summer to be over so that he can go back to the Academy of American Studies where he has made wonderful new friends in every grade in the school.
