My son goes to Bedford and I am so happy he is. He is learning exactly what he should be as a Sophomore. This was a great choice for him and I am so glad they are there for him.

I absolutely love this school. My daughter loves going to school every day. I am more involved with school functions than I have ever been. The Principal is great he has an open door policy and is always available to discuss whatever issue may arise. The Guidance Counselors are always there when needed. The teachers are always pushing my daughter to do better and give her all. The ladies in the office always have a smile on their faces and treat my daughter like their own. The School Safety Agents are always on point and keep the childrens' safety at the forefront. Thank you Bedford Academy High School for having space for my daughter when my husband and I came knocking.

Why is Bedford amazing? In my two years At Bedford Academy High School I have learned so much. I simply adore and admire my teachers I love their positive energy and I admire the fact that each and everyone of the staff memebers care about my academic excellence as well as my growth as a young africa-american female. In additon I love Bedford because im pushed to reach for the stars and I am always reminded of one very important thing each morning as I walk into the building 'Academic Empowerment is the Birth-right of every child' Quoted by Mr. Leonard the founder & former princpal of Bedford Academy... so why do I love Bedford because we're simply The best there is & best there ever will be

The staff of Bedford Academy help provide practical life experiences and academic opportunities to students. The practical experiences come through internships at institutions outside of their school environment. Students are better able to achieve their goals when they can connect practical life experiences with their academic work. The staff also communicates with parents regularly.

The main distraction at the school is the handful of parents who seem to have a personal agenda against the new principal. As a veteran teacher I have observed that under the new principal Bedford has 1. Increased student involvement there are more student run organizations than ever including a mentoring program student government and female empowerment group; 2. Higher academic standards the ELA regents is taken Freshmen instead of Junior year more students are taking AP and College Now classes most of the January regents scores increased compared to last year; 3. Increased learning opportunities we had the best career day this year college tours professional speakers throughout the year professional and academic field trips NYU/Polytechnic partnership and so on. Some parents want the old administration to come back even though they chose to leave and they chose the new administration. We need these parents to work with us.

As a teacher who is in the building every day I have to respectfully disagree with the parent's review stating that the school is in total disarray under the new administration. I have much respect for the prior administration and I think they did an excellent job in choosing the new administration. We are continuing everything that has made this school successful in the past and progressing in many areas. The college application process was smoother than ever this year and many of our seniors have already received acceptance leters and scholarships. Our partnerships with colleges are growing and more of our students are taking Advanced Placement courses. We improved our regents performance in many subjects. I have not experienced an increase in cursing or sagging. I don't even have to think about safety in this school; I get to focus my energy on challenging my students academically.

My son attends bedford academy I am very please with the rigorous academic process that is expected of the students to fulfill. I know the school will continue to be top rated. Parent involvement is very essential.

What makes Bedford Academy exceptional is that upon entering the building there is a sense of family that permeates the whole atmosphere. In addition to the fine academics the students also receive character building/development. There is zero tolerence for students disrespecting one another and cursing as well. Parents are kept informed about their child's progress and lines of communication are always open. The PTA is a vibrant organization and staff members do not rush out of the door at 3 00 sharp!! Saturdays at Bedford Academy seem just like a regular school day.

Mr. Leonard the teachers the staff the students and the parents are a fine example of how our schools schould be and can be. DL
