We like this school A LOT better than the local JHS. My only complaint here is that the parent/teacher communication needs to be updated. The planner/note system doesn't work. Email access to the teachers is not available although necessary and access to grades throughout the year on a website system is also necessary but not available. Other than that this school made my child much happier than the last. It's also much easier to voice concerns to the administration vs my last JHS. However I really do wish my concerns about teacher & grade communication would be addressed. Phone call messages into the office and using the planners as a way of communication are not effective long term. The important matter is that my child is much happier here.

Well where do I begin? First of all the halls are wayyyy too crammed we once got backed up in the halls and we had to back up so the eighth grade could get to lunch! The teachers are crazy and disorganized for example one of my teachers lost my PROJECT! How do you loose a students project? Another thing is they assign tons of homework in each of the 5 subjects and only one teacher bothers to check it! They don't have any girl sports except cheerleading! A lot of the students are rude and mean. There is wayy too much drama in the school and not enough people to handle it! All I could say is that I'm a sixth grader who expected more from Bell but now I'm transferring -___-

As a current 7th grader at this school. I love it here. We're like family. Just behave and don't get anyones bad side. I've made so many friends here and we're practically like family. Its a really fun school to be at. We have SEM programs in doing what you like weather its sports science writing art anything. We have amazing after school clubs like Football Math Guitar and more. When it's assembly time we have a Bell's Got Talent talent show. It is truly really fun. This school makes time go by really quickly and I don't want it to. ( I want this school to be a high school literally. The teachers and faculty are really nice. The school is a bit hectic with the halls and changing every period since we share the school with PS 169 but that really doesn't matter. Consider coming here. )

I laughed at the comment below. @Feburary 27th 2011 Lets take a look at why. "BELL we were drilled yelled at screamed threatened and put down. " Well... what did you expect? To be praised and complemented for screaming and yelling? Kids like to have fun yes? IF you're one of the few that choose to cause trouble during these rehearsals then I expect nothing less for it to be a sad and rather troubling time for you. "Don't behave well due to a lack of discipline." Doesn't this seem counteracting to the statement above? Hmm lets think this through. 1) Students don't behave this leads to an upset atmosphere during graduation. If the teachers had spoke to them nicely and other stuff like that do you expect them to stop acting like children with absolute no sense of wrong and right? 2) Sure you're graduation wasn't the BEST one out there but you have to make put with what you get. If you fee like you're cousin in 4th grade is doing better than you state the name of the school and lets examine further. Otherwise I enjoyed your grammar. If you had learned this outside of school is another thing but if you had learned how to type in BELL then I feel they did just fine. <3

As a student at BELL what we are learning is not really as academically challenging as I'd like it to be. While I was a 8th grader my cousin was a 4th grader and knew just about the same amount of math and ELA as I did and we were several grades apart! I find myself thinking that maybe I didn't chose the right middle school to go to. It's also very cramped and my fellow students don't behave well due to the lack of discipline. I also was upset about my graduation. While my friends at other schools had an enjoyable time rehearsing for their graduation at BELL we were drilled yelled at screamed threatened and put down. Definitely not encouraged. BELL cares more about how other people see the school rather than the students in the school.

This is a nice small school they need to fix somethings to make it better like am arrival in all weather parent conf need to be by appointment bell is first come first serve very crazy all kids need to be treated and reprimanded the same some are treated with kid gloves and others are not but overall I would give Bell an 8

i like this school my child has good friends but the only thing i dont like is the time they start. its way to early. classes are overcrowded teachers and staff are very friendly.

I am disappointed. I wanted my child to attend a small safe school. It is a safe school. I love the friends my child has made. My child has always done well academically until Bell. One of the teachers of a major subject does not ask for the homework on a regular basis then failed my child first quarter in 6th grade for not handing in some assignments. My child feels under constant stress and pressure and says not happy in the environment of the school and it is having negative academic effects. I get the feeling that the way some of the teachers teach is in a way that is suited for a high school or college student but may not hold the attention of some 6th grade children. They are kids they need to have time to run around more and have more fun activities incorporated into their schedules.

I like the fact that it is a small school. I wish we had more space. A new building would be nice. The staff is great.

the school was better when it started out theb how it is now. we use to have electives all day friday(8 periods.) then we had it 3 periods. now we only have it 2 periods! and the school honestly is not that challenging. we also went from 4 periods of gym a week to 2. they are eliminating all of the things that students find fun (

When I heard about BELL academy at the end of fifth grade I was very excited. It's close small and above the elementary school (P.S. 169) that I went to for kindergarden. It is slightly dissapointing in part because of the crammed hallways large classes and overall lack of room. the classes do not seem challenging.Still not a bad school. Love the clusters.

this is a nice school. but i wish that the hallways were not as crammed. it would have been nice if they were wider and we had lockers so we wouldnt have to carry everything at once. i wish we could also learn languages other then spanish (

I really like this school but there are a few problems. First the hallways are to tight and we have to walk up and down all the time to go the the gym cafiteria or/and auditorium. Second we don't have enough gym time we only get gym twice a week and share the gym with another class and well thatz it other than that the teacher is somewhat nice and the school is good.

The Bell Academy has been a blessing to me. Let's face it we have no choices for middle schools in our area. Who ever has anything negative to say obviously has no idea about what's out there. The principal is truly amazing. She knows and adores each and every student. The teachers are fabulous and most of all you can send your child to school with comfort and ease knowing that they are well taken care of. Thank you for giving us this much needed absolutely unbelievable middle school.

I had great hopes for this school at the beginning. Yes it is a small school but class sizes on the 6th. Grade are at 32 and there are four classes of them in addition to the 7th. And 8th. Grades. Cramming all these kids onto one floor of the building is not really my idea of an ideal small school environment. Where is the 'long distance learning'? The dean addresses the students in derogatory terms. I don't see how the curriculum ( or lack thereof ) for the 6th. Grade can possibly prepare them for the 7th. Very dissapointed!

My daughter is in her 2nd year at BELL. SHe loves the school. Since it is a new school the school is in desperate need of funding. This is a wonderful school if you want your child to be in a smaller envirnment

I'm going to BELL Academy now as a 7th grade student. It's great because the environment is friendly the teachers are awesome and the funding is okay. This school needs more money but it's really a great school!
