While our principal is a great and fearless leader as a parent this motivates me 100%. My child is a freshman and has a wealth of caring teachers. I look forward to keeping our parents engaged. and helping our principle to bring positive change.

Another thing about this school that tells me they are trying to close this school is that no student can bring home a text book . How is my child goind to complete with schools like brooklyn tech if my child can bring home his text book.

it's alright for the most part i will apreciated if the teacher were more involved with contacting the parents more often rather than just on open school nights

Wait one minute. I am a hard working teacher that has worked at BGHS for years. I come to class prepared and expect my students to do the same. I too stay up late preparing for my classes. I love what I do and the students I teach. I am accessible to parents and students. The key is to be consistent and clear with expectations. Most parents and students appreciate that. BGHS has lots to offer and in a genuine family environment. BTW there are many more like me at BGHS.

My child is a senior and three of my family members graduated from Boys and Girls. I rate this school ... Not A Problem At All! If you are an involved parent - YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES with your child receiving a good education from this school. B's & G's is a HUGE place and if you are not on top of your child and sometimes the teachers - your child will fall through the cracks. This is why open school night and contacting your childs teacher is important. When a teacher see that the parent cares - Teachers Care More! Boys and Girls is a really a good school and the comments that I read seem to come from parents and students who have other issues than Boys and Girls.

I can see why it's looked down upon.Teachers fail students and don't make any effort to promote success as a priority afterward. AP classes are far below standards. I wouldn't recommend ever considering you sending your children there for their sakes.

I went to this school in my freshman and spohmore years. I didnt learn anything nor did this school notice us by our name they new us numbers I really didnt like this school now i am a senior at an school in South Carolina were i will be graduating on the A honor roll

this school does nothing to prepare their students for their future at all. The teachers are biased towards certain students and grades them based on that. Students too often neglect their education and spend too much time focusing on outside influence rather than doing homework.

Great School helpful teachers and staff. This is a no nonsense kind of school. Focused on achievement. Safe around school perimeter and indoors.

I'm a parent of a Junior I am never able to get in contact with her counselor. The requirements for my child to be able to attend college is overlooked and minized. The school simply don't care about the students future as long as they cas ship them out from their site.

I'm a student of Boys and Girls High School and I must agree with the outraged parents. The school doesn't do it's best to put children in their required classes. Teachers are much too lenient and the disciplinary system is atrocious.

This school is not worth rating at all my child has been in this school and learn nothing. I don't know why this school is still open. First of all it's not safe for your children to attend this school. The staff there not helpfull at all. I'm taking my child out ASAP.

This school has no concern of sort for 'regular students' and appears to put excess pressure on their honour kids. Discipline method is unsatisfactory for the most part. I will not miss seeing late students sitting in the auditorium writing lines.

This school has changed so much as when I graduated in 1985. My son just graduated in June 2005. The new principal when I graduated was Mr. Mickens. Now my son graduated and there is a another new principal Mr. Holder. Which has been there for a long time also. I always felt safe at the school. My son has a problem (with bullies) and it was resolve as soon as I brought it to the table. There are many dedicated teachers that are still there after I left. My sons had some of my teachers. Many various sports available. I loved the school while I attended and so did my son. The principal Mr. Holder is going to do a great job and keep the school positive in all aspects like it always been since Mr. Mickens took over. Many blessing to the school all year through.

this school is great for discipline and academics but it lacks in socilization skills. rules by staff members have been broken when it comes to respect responsibility and parenting skills. In a learning institue everyone shares in the responsibility in education the student staff and parents. boys and girls high school feel as if they and them alone makes the rules on who could get educated and how. not all children learn the same live the same nor act the same and they should be treated as an individual. it appears if your child is not part of the sports they are not counted. my experience as a parent with this school will be nothing I would forget for a long time. And never have a issue that needs to be handle in the school you must bring someone from the outside to get anything done.

This school has done miracles for me and my daughter Shytavia. She was always a good girl but since she has been doing her thing in Boys and Girls she has excelled to another level. She has been on the Honor roll twice and been bringing home good grades. I recommend this school to anyone who has a child that is willing to work hard and succeed to excellence.

I am currently enrolled in BGHS and I must say that my years at 'the High' have been prosperous. Firstly I did not wish to go to BGHS because I had heard that it was really bad. Parents and potiential students it would be wise to disregard that notion. BGHS is one of the safest places for a strong student to be. In the school he or she will meet with competition and will be rewarded for any form of excellence. There are constant Honor Roll Breakfasts and Dinners and there are clubs such as Arista for students with an average of above 80. In addition to the honor socities BGHS offers honor classes and AP courses for students. Also there are various extracurricular activities such as track and field football debate team culture club etc.
