I have two children attending this school so I think it is a very good school good teachers and a great principal. When a parent decides to send his son to school alone and something happens on the road can not blame it on the people who work there as parents we have responsibilities like helping our children and not blame it on school staff or teachers when things go wrong also the education begins from home please support our school .

This school is very bad children k-1 travel back and fourth rain sleet or snow though the school yard to the main building I found my daughter wandering the street during pick up the school yard is a playground and parking lot trips are always costly reading level assesment mistakes occur math isn't challenging all the water fountains are broken you have to buy water for 50 cents in the lunch room the annex has water dispenser but teachers depend on donations for cups so many kids put they're mouth on the pipe to drink water

I am new to this this website so my comment is kinda old. I went there for 1st grade and my mom pulled me out of that school for second because she found out that it was failing school. They taught things that you suppose to learn in kindergarten. I remember me and my friend John always to get in trouble for talking because we already new the work. The first graders was not even in the school we was in like a big box with classrooms. Now I am going to 8th grades honors because of P.S.41 M.S.144 I wrote my review for both school just look for the day July 4 2013 Hopefully this review was helpful

How appropriate that an 8th grader who went to this school has written a review with not a single piece of punctuation in it. His teachers must be so proud. Good job Mr. Jacobs!

I used to go to this school I was part of the graduating class of 2010 and I'm in 8th grade now when i went to this school it was great although i didn't do great the teachers were good most of the time unless you made them mad then you would either get detention or your parent called although after that the teachers respected you and helped a lot and they have a great robotics team i was part of lead or used to be lead Mr.Jacobs i have no information about it but it was a great after school program and we actually won some competitions in the making and i have a medal to prove it.

My daughter is a PS 103 student since first grade she is in fourth grade now. I am satisfied with her progress and the care the school staff provide to the children. PS 103 is a great school

PS 103x has a free After School Program for all students run by the Sports and Arts Foundation. They have family nights Children at Work days Penny Harvest participation in box tops School rewards store and much more activities for both students and parents. The parent coordinator is always available to answer questions as well. My son is currently in the first grade and I see great progress as well as interest in his love for school. The school has a new playground and a garden with chess tables and benches. Homework is given daily and teachers provide a warm environment for fostering young curious minds.

My 2 children attend this school and i've it to be rewarding for both of them especially the older one. Its important to keep in communication with your child teacher as that would foster a better growth and development for you child future academic years.

I have 2 kids attending ps 103 and I think its a great school..the teachers are very good .I have not had any problems .

I think that there should be more after-school programs for the children. Something should be available to interest all the students. Such as the sports music and art programs. I think it is completely left up to the parent how much they involve themselves in their childs education. I was fortunate enough to have Mrs. Maietta as my sons teacher and I was very happy with her level of communication with me. Although I think my son could have done better academically. He believes he wasn't challenged enough. I think that since we cannot give each child individualized attention we should at least expect there to be more programs available to pique their interests.

P.S.103 Hector Fontanez Elementary School is a great school. This educational environment not only foster learning it has a great 'High Five' program that students love. I have the privilege of receiving the elementary education of two of my children at P.S103. My experience was and is positive about this school. I recommend that all parents take the time to volunteer in the school and experience this learning environment by helping a child to learn how to do math teach them to read write or just help out in the lunch room or perhaps other areas. Getting involve with the school will help them to develop a positive relationship with the learning environment Principal Parent Coordinator PTA Members and other staff members. These individuals really care about your child. So show them that you also care about your child.

This school is not doing good when it comes to paying attention to the kids needs. The needs of the students are shon aside like yesterdays news. I wish they would do better

so i dont ramble on forever i'll address the topics above -academic program is great there is no gifted and talented program but they recognized that my son was bright almost immediately and helped me with the steps to get him into a specialized school. -there are no extracurricular sports or a music program however they incorporate 'music' in to the curriculum whether it be singing songs or making different noises of the rain forest. -parents are very involved i cannot be involved as much i would like to be but i am always getting flyers from the PTA and the parent coordinator at the school for various activities.

This is my son's first year at this schoool. I can't really say if I can give it a negative or a positive rating. I do not have any real complaints about the school. My son is improving well. However I do have a complaint about the PTA not about what they are doing but on their efforts at getting parents to participate. I don't know if a study has been done on the number of working parents in that area but this is New York and to live in New York most people have to work. Yet the PTA chooses to keep the majority of its activiites during the day in fact in the early moring. They cannot possibly want the parents to be involved if they choose to keep meetings and events at times when they know parents cannot attend.

I do not know the history of this school in terms of parents involvement or even the overall discipline of the students but base on the average of the past three years its not acceptable we must do better this year and future years more so my son just started this month as parents we will have to work very close to the teachers and the school administration in a whole to improve the grades of our school! Yes! If our kid go there then its our school too!

I do not recommend this school to anyone. If you have another choice please choose otherwise. They lost my child on her first day of school (kindergarden)and you have to be careful of teachers that pretend they are professional and then treat your child horribly in class. This school does not take responsibility if anything should happen to your child during the time that they are there or on trips and expect the 'parents' to sign a permission slip saying that. The sad part is that most of the 'parents' have signed it and not bother to really read all of the info. or question it. I don't think so!!!
