This is a great school I see the extraordinary efforts that teachers and the principal make to create learning environments for children's education. The principal and the assistant principal are very friendly all the students know them. Students are allowed to share their ideas or any project that they are doing. The principal and the assistance principal are available to support teachers to increase the effectiveness of their instruction.

I truly shake my head to the Irate person that writes negative comments about a school that their child attends. I wonder how involve has this person been? Coming from another school some years ago where there were issues of concern. I find 188 a safer learning enviroment for all children and the curriculum is being taught This school has an open door policy oppose to other places that keep parents out. Bashing administration and staff is not how one get results. (note) learning begans at home. Get involve.

I am very happy with the school. The principal has been very attentive to our concerns and I appreciate that. She is very dedicated to the arts and because of that the school has many partnerships with places that come and expose the kids to all kinds of activities that the city cut out long ago. My child is in the dual language program and we are very happy with it. I think to the parents who are not pleased about the test scores you need to remember that the test does not measure the whole child. There are school that teach so the kids will do well on "the test " but they will suffer in the other areas of development.

Although I am a staff member at this school I am a parent of 4 children and for this reason my comments come from the heart of a parent! Our teachers and staff truly teach from the heart!.. They are not only involved in the academics of our students but truly care about developing a well rounded child which includes but is not limited to academics social and economical development.. We offer a great deal of support programs and incentives not only to our students but to our parent body as well. We are here to educate not only our students but our families as well.

My grandkids have been going to this school for about two years now. I would like to compliment the principal assistant principal teachers and staff who have welcomed all four of my grandkids in. They have all been patient respectful understanding and have always been active with them from day one. Unlike their previous schools they have attended. They are very polite and take their time with each child individually. I love that they have extra activities for the students to join.

P.S. 188 The Island School is raising the bar! The school has become an absolute model for the community. As a parent I have seen my child's success and her increasing academic achievements. This school overall works really well as a team... Thank you so much

I am a parent of a 5th grader in this school and never had any complaints...thought the school was wonderful until my younger son who gets related services and started kindergarten this year. It is a nightmare. Especially since nobody at the school including the principal doesn't give you a straight answer on my sons services. I am very disappointed. I thought the stories of how the public schools are not very compliant and are very unreliable when it comes to children with related services.

Last week we met with P.S/M.S. 188's assistant principal Ms. Suany Ramos to discuss some academic issues regarding our daughter. Ms. Ramos greeted us warmly and listened to our concerns. Despite her very busy schedule she took her time to review our daughter's academic records in detail. She offered us valuable advice and came up with a plan of action while we were still in the office. We couldn't be more impressed with her dedication to the children. This is not the first time dealing with the school; our two other daughters have graduated from P.S./M.S. 188 and are doing very well thanks to the solid foundation they received at P.S./M.S. 188 from Pre-K to 8th grade. -

P.S. 188 is a wonderful school. The staff is full of caring and motivated individuals that are the best role models a student can have. The school has a safe environment. there are so many extra curricular activities such as flag football tennis violin classes and a chorus. I graduated from this school and still remember what a wonderful time I had there.

PS 188 is a a great school for every child. 188 has a very dedicated caring and commited staff where a low performance child can get all that support and tutoring to succeed academically and high performance students are challenged as well. PS 188 is a happy safe environment. Our students always have a smile even after a long day of hard work. Students arrive at 7 00 A.M. and leave at 7 30 P.M. This a big plus. I highly recomend parents to visit PS 188.

P188 is great when it counts... Role Models. Their staff really help the kids on a daily bases. I saw how Ms Almonte was reaching out concern over my son missing homework in math. We stepped it up and my boy was able to graduate because he passed his city-wide math exam. Thank You. I definitely recommend this school.
