I am a picky mom... This school has exceeded my expectations. The teachers and staff care! They have worked with my daughter to help her excel. I see her growth the teachers communicate with me and Mrs. Velic is an awesome parent teacher coordinator!

My school is a very good school. Very clean and safe. Most of the teachers are good but as always there are some that are very rude and nasty and do not care about the kids. Principal is also good very strict. Most of the staff are also nice.

I hate this school because no one seems to care. Kids aren't learning and aren't having any fun.

I have to say this is the best Elementary school in the world. I miss it so much. I cherish the memories I have from this school all the good ol' days and times I spent in this wonderful school. I miss many of the teachers and staff members I spent my elementary years with. They deserve much appreciation. I am now in college.Thinking back to P.S.199 always makes me smile and gives me an honorable feeling that I attended it.

I was curious about school reviews and was surprised about the disparity of opinions. What shocked me the most was the level of that specific teacher. I'm sure he/she tells her students to proofread their work but he/she did not do it himself/herself. Most of our kids' success depends on the teacher. I was happy with some and disappointed with the others but overall I believe the school is good. It would be nice if parents had more voice there and good students were not placed in CTT classes to make these classes look better. Overall if it is your zone school it is definitely a decent one.

The school is ok. But so far my child has only had one nice teacher. The rest of them look and act miserable and utterly insensitive just trying to get by. I am getting endless criticism about a child who never had a single complaint outside of the school. Starting to feel like a mother of a serious criminal offender who belongs to a juvenile facility which sort of puzzles me since teachers are the only ones who happened to have this unfavorable opinion. Seems to me that if a child is bored and not motivated or God Forbid misunderstands the subject he instantly gets labeled as difficult since he obviously requires an extra effort.

My 3 children attended PS199 and to this day they always tell me that the best school experience is the one they had at PS199. Yes Deep many changes have occured over the years YET we still have the most dedicated teachers and staff..Sometimes parents don't like to hear or accept the truth we need to tell them about their child and that causes them to get upset and nagative with the school. Deep down they know its the truth they just need to vent. Therefore PS199 is one of the best schools in NYC . Parents are given many events to get involved in but sometimes they just don't have time and think they are not given the chance -they are. Sometimes they don't like the answer we give. Its not want you want to hear its what it is..PS199 is a great place to learn and to work in..Its like a private school even better..

The school is really great! I cannot believe the people left negative feedback! My little one is already 3d year at this amazing school. She is now at 1st GRADE! She completed ESL in ONLY ONE YEAR!Her English her spelling her reading are just great! same to the math!everyday my little angel tells me about the school! The real computer tech classes! the social study! the Science class! WOW!So many things she learned only in less then 2 months!what to the music-even our private music tutor was amazed how well the music teacher does his job!!! Have you ever meet the Art teacher???wow! no compare!I guess parents who leave a bad feedback don't want to be involved to the child's education and aspect the school does everything without cooperation! I feel free calling the school and always have an appointment if I need to see a teacher! And even teacher recall me if I need communicate!

I'm not satisfied how the teachers are treating my daughter. I felt they are being unfair and bias favoritism. Additionally the teachers aren't compassionate. My daughter and I felt unwelcome being in school for two months. She doesn't seem happy nor motivated going to school and the teachers stated that she's a trouble child which isn't true. Every afternoon I get complaints from them saying she's misbehaving. Ever since she started school she's been picking up these bad behaviors it's a big transition when she was in daycare she wasn't like this. I decided to switch her to another school because of the bad environment that this school is providing. Unhappy and frustrated mother wants the best for her daughter. I felt this school is a failure in providing my daughter educational needs.

before anyone has negative comments I know surprised is spelled wrong. thank you very much )

I agree with the previous post as May 20th. I am a parent of a former student. Neither my son nor I ever felt welcomed at this school. Not caring principal and rude and not caring teachers left a bad taste about the school. For that reason I did not send my daughter to this school and feel bad that my son spent unpleasant years there.

I don't like this school. My child has been there for four years. And there is not going to be a fifth one! There is no individualized approach to each child. Anyone with education will see that. The new principal is not improving the school. It seems like its going worse. Most teachers are very rude along with the parent coordinator. It seems like most staff is just trying to get through the day with these kids. I know other parents from this school and we all have shared the following similarities the teachers are screaming at the kids and nothing is done by the principal about this children are ignored and can speak up only when the teachers allow it. And I understand that handling a class full of children is hard but yelling at such small children is not a good example at all. Some staff at school allow themselves to call these children names such as stupid . This school needs a serious review by the Department of Education.

School is grate my son got excepted in gifted and talented program but I am not sure if we want to change the school. Teachers are very professional and caring.

One of the worst schools ever! Staff are rude teachers are lazy and don't care. The principal has no idea about anything that goes around in the school. All the Principal has is excuses on why things are being neglected and no response to correct the problems. This school is so horrible that it doesn't deserve any stars!
