New York State Assessments (NYSA)

In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in science. The results for English language arts and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles and the science results will be added when they are released in the Fall of 2013. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.

Recently a community garden was built in the yard of this school. It is a wonderful project for all the children in the building to learn about gardening. Carson Daly from the Today Show came to help each of the kids to plant vegetable and herbs yesterday. It was one of the best experience for my child to remember.

This school has laid a great foundation for my children. The admintration and staff work close with my children and in result it allowed my children reading levels to grow.

This is a great school. I have seen lots of improvement in the the entire school. I have been a parent here for 3 years. The principal and teachers are friendly and willing to help.

i think this is a good school and i have seen it in all that my daughter have learned just being in Pre-K

I found the school was unable and unwilling to meet my sons educational needs. He was enrolled there for 4 mos. got 1 test and 2 mins of homework each night. Got no where discussing it with school principal and staff. He missed the deadline for IP classes and had to wait another year to take the test. Also found students behaivor out of control my son came home with bumps bruises etc. I say they are negligient and have enrolled my son in private school even though I am a single mother with no help. My district also told me they have no enrichment program available for my son and hung up on me (they aren't nice people).

i think these kids are amazing you would never think by just looking at them that they would have so much talent

Because for the 4 and more yrs that my daughter has been there the school has helped her to develop to where she is today - she is classed with the gifted and talented students.

The teachers are great and are interested in the best for our children

My son attended this school since the first grade. He loves it he enjoys going to school and loves his teachers. His academic level has improved and I am very satisfied with his level of improvement. Some parents fail to realize that they have a major role to play in the development of their children in school is not all up to the teacher. My only complaint is that gym music and art should be more consistent. The children do not have it on a regular basis.

My child attend this school for grades 4 to 5. They try but are just not succeeding in getting the kids to learn. Some of the children's behavior is uncontrollable. The discipline is not very good.
