I love PS 256 beceause of the staff. The staff really cares about the students. The school is a family school. Parents look out and care for other chidren besides their own. Many families have sent their children to this school for many generations

P.S.256 is lacking in true believable hard working teachers. They don't believe in there students. Teachers are real laid back.I've been a part of this school for 8yrs. My daughter and son went there and the only way i can transfer them to an better/motivated school is by moving to Staten Island...If your child(s)is hard working and you want him/her in a well establish enviroment then consider some where else.

The quality of academic programs at this school is good. Thankfully there are a number of teachers that care for the students enough to give them and their parents information about special programs that would help students improve and help talented students work to their potential. Because of some of these teachers my daughter excelled and was salutatorian at her graduation. One of the best programs at this school is Jackie Robinson which teaches children dance sports cheerleading etc... My daughter learned how to tap dance and this program did wonders for her self esteem. Of course the school does have a PTA but it needs more parent involvement.
