Test scores cannot reflect my children's experience in this school. There is a caring and nurturing environment which I think is essential for young children. There is structure and there is discipline. The principal fights constantly to keep the arts and science in the school. My kids have visual art drama music and science.

    P. S. 3 is a fantastic school! I know because I have spent the last 20 years of my 33 years teaching at this incredible school. Everyone works together. The music arts and technology programs are superb and offer students a look into possible career choices. The teachers are dedicated and there's a very active PTA as well as a dynamic parent coordinator. Many of our fith grade students have been accepted into prestigious middle schools such as DeLaSalle Academy Prep for Prep Medgar Evers Prep and Mark Twain Middle School for the Gifted and Talented. The negative comments on this site were written by one parent who couldn't manipulative the adminstration and/or school community. P. S. 3 rocks! Come see for yourself!

After attending this school from Pre-K through 5th grade my son graduated in June 2010. I am extremely pleased with the overall education that he received there. Upon his graduation he was invited to attend some of NYC's most renowned programs - Medgar Ever's Prep Prep for Prep private school De LaSalle Academy Phillipa Schuyler M.S. And Mark Twain for the Gifted and Talented. Socially he went from a shy and withdrawn student to one with an offbeat sense of humor that he loves to share. The friendships that he's made are continuing through phone calls emails and visits. I thank the teachers that realized who he was inside and helped him bring it out. The various arts programs that P.S. 3 invite into the school as well as take the students to visit have added another dimension to him. Those experiences allow my son to fit comfortably into his new school's setting. Concerts and museums are second nature to him. Although I was sometimes uncomfortable with what appeared to a chaotic lunch or dismissal time there was always an adult who could readily explained what was happening. My one complaint is the lack of parental involvement in this school.

I am a very disappointed & dissatisfied parent. I too read site and reviews like this one and made PS 3K my choice. The teachers are unprofessional and confrontasional with the students. The children are hostile and angry. There is little parental involvement. I am an active and involved parent. The parents that should speak up don't. They are afraid that there child will be harassed by the staff like my child and other children of out-spoken parents! This school needs to be investigated!

I love PS 3 because the principal and staff are hands on with the children. If there is a problem they are quick to locate it and let the parents know and what would be the solution.

I am pleased so far with the outcome. My son attended school for the first time there and he is on the honor roll and got a 99 and a 98 on the city tests. I am a proud Mama. However as parents we did a lot of extra work at home with our son. So parents have to do their part.
