I've read the comments. You should read them carefully. If the writing is any indication I'd think twice about willingly sending any child to this school. The reviews are embarrassing to read and actually laughable. The real pity is that the writers don't know they are illiterate. Close this place down or fire the leadership and start over.

My school is an excellent environment for learning. We are moving forward with rigorous lessons in ELA Math Science Social Studies Music Art Physical Education Library Media. We use ReadyGen for reading and Go Math implementing the Common Core. We have an active parent Association but more parent participation is desired. We are working toward meeting the needs of all of our students including the students deficient in reading and/or math English language learners and students with other special needs. We are well into the 21st century and have Smart Boards document cameras desktops and laptops available in all classrooms. This is an excellent school!

I would like to know why an announcement was made by the principal of this school that the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag is being replaced by "The Learning Leader's Pledge"? We received this bit of information from one of our grandchildren who has been attending PS 315 since Pre-K.

My daughter attended the school for 2 years -kindergarten and 1st grade. SHe was in a CTT class and in K it was a great experience! Unfortunately her teaching team was less then stellar in 1st and resorted to yelling as their means of discipline. THe arts activities were great and they had many nice activities to involve parents such as Movie night.Overall it was a good school but my daughter now attends private school instead.

I used to go to PS315 when i was a young girl. I am now in 10th grade in Wagner highschool in SI NY and i still remember all the great times i had back then. To singing in the chorus the amazing staff and kids i met and all the activities this school really is amazing. If you're indecided to where your child or someoen you know should send their kid choose Ps 315.Your child will have a blast growing up and start maturing getting to express themselves in the dance classes and chorus and other activites. I haven't been to the school in about a year so i'm not sure if much has changed sincei last visited. None the less 315 is a great learning environment for your children.

My son is in third grade now and he likes the school. So far all the teachers he had since kindergarten are down to earth and very nice. I love the priciple as well. The problem is lunch and not enough recess!!! Children need to exercise more but I think this problem is a city wide problem and not necessarily a problem of PS315. Overall I think it is a good school lots of trips and activities. But since it calls itself a performing art school I think students are not exposed to the arts too much. So far my son has not learned any musical instrument the school has no band just a choir I think some improvement of the arts area is necessary.

My son been attending P.S 315 since kindergarten. I would like to say that i came across some very good teachers. For instance Ms. Marke and Ms. Withman are very good teachers. They cared alot about my son but i have came across some bad ones too. The Principle is not too bad. Overal the school is an excellent school. My son always scored very high on the ELA test.

My daughter has been going to this school for two years. It's hard to find enough teachers let alone staff that have the patience tact skill and creative solutions to encourage the right behaviors as well as consistent academic achievement. I find that the principle is uncaring and aloof and encourages teachers not to be forth coming about a parent's options as to their children's academic career and counseling about their negative behaviors. The teachers are very stressed out. The staff only complain. They are not trained to sufficiently deal with children outside of yelling threatening ignoring children and dumping on them to their parents on any given oppurtunity. As for this 'performance arts' business the children are still bored and uninspiried. The entire staff lack concern for behavior modification and other outlets for children who are exicitable and hyperactive. They look out for themselves and their jobs.

i went to this school for two years...im sorry but those were the worst two years ever. It was so boring...even though I didnt go to that school i had friends from ps 152...i went to p.s 152 the next year and i must say it was wayyyy better. In 315 if u dont understand something you dont really get any help...u just sit there...and it was boring too.

My child attends 315 and I am happy with her performance. I like the fact that the teachers and staff are readily available to communicate with you and they keep you notified of all important issues with your child. I feel she is being prepared academically. I also enjoy the fact that she is exposed to music and the arts as well.

The curriculum lacks creative hands-on activities that keep children engaged and excited about learning. There are no extracurricular sports and for a performing arts school very little performing arts in the curriculum--my child had dance instruction 2 out of 5 years there and learned to play the recorder. Recess time is often replaced by test prep leaving children restless and without balanced activities. K-5 children need to run and play every day. If the administration would understand this they may have fewer disciplinary problems resulting from bored and restless children.
