My 3 children have attended PS 40 for the last 5 years. My children's reading writing and math skills have developed in ways that I never would have imagined. They take the children on wonderful field trips and my children come back happy with fun stories that they will never forget. They provide experiences for the community such as cultural festivals children performances and activities for senior citizens. GREAT SCHOOL!!! Can't wait to enroll my grand babies.

this school is terrible I kindergartener went to this school and I had to take her out. The older children pick on the younger children during lunch time and teacher do nothing to assist. fighing is the curriculum. some the teachers are very rude and abusive mentally and physically. They blame everything on the kids when it's really them my neighbors took her children out also.

In this community Ps 40 is the better school to send your children. However that is not saying much. My children did attend this school. I was somewhat happy with the teacher and the assistant principal Ms. White but extremely dissatified with the principal's management of the school. I removed my children from the school and as a whole we are very happy. It's not about the principal and her beliefs. It's about the students motivating them and allowing them to explore themself in a positive social environment that would enrich their future. After leaving P.S. 40 and the community my children play chess are in the gifted and talented program learn musical instruments ballroom dance and more. I guess I should be greatful to Principal Hibbert's management or lack thereof because it led us to a better place.

Everyone has a voice and I speak loud and clear when I say Public School 40 is an excellent place to have your child recieve an education. My child has a great teacher who taught him to believe and achieve beyond his current grade which happens to show in all of his weekly test and reports. I give kudos to the Principal Ms. Hibbert and a great staff Thanks for all you do.

P.S. 40 is a community based school that is welcoming safe and commited to standards based learning. It's teachers inquiry teams and administrative staff work hard to provide an enriched learning experinece that includes the implementation of enrichment and intervention programs that take place during the school day. Programs such as Fencing Chinese Spanish yoga jewelry making are just some of what is offered as enrichment for P.S. 40's students. There is an after-school program that runs all year around including during school holidays. Activities such as Dance Karate Chorus and Art are provided during the hours of 3-6pm. During the school year there is also an afterschool violence prevention/test prep program that runs 3 days a week from October to March. As a teacher it is a pleasure to work in an enviornment that strives to offer such resources for the children of this community. I would recommend that you pay a visit to see what great things we are doing.

Most of the teachers in the school are great unfortunately the school is horrible. There is always fighting children are rude and it seems there are no consequences and when one goes to the office they are so rude. I know many parents are transferring their children and he teacher turnover rate is high every year. If you want your child to have consistency DO NOT send them to this school.
