I don't see how teachers can teach with 35% of the students described as "special ed." This seems an impossible situation for the teachers regular students and the special ed kids. With 30 students in each class how can teachers possibly address the wide range of needs. How can real learning go on?

I am a photographer and recently had picture day at PS56. The students and the teachers were great! I work in many schools across the city and it is rare to experience a smooth picture day. The students were so well behaved. I would agree to work in this school any time.

I truly need to inform new PreK parents what to expect when calling this school. I just got off the phone witha Mrs.Robins ( i think and another one of her coworkers and am DISGUSTED by there attitude and way of speaking to any parent on the phone. Yu would expect that the staff at the school would be helpful and speak proper english instead of having a complete attitude and disrespect towards a prespective parent... This is a reflection of the school. When I then asked to speak to the principal she gave the phone to her coworker to let me know??.. Really ids this what we want for our children. This school might have a great grade but as heard there staff is unprofessional!

My daughter have been a student of this school since kindergarten she"s in thirth grade now and i must say that for the pass two years i have notice that the principal mrs Clarke Johnson and some of the teachers have been showing special treatment to some of the other kids...They stop parents from bringing in students before 8am so these students are left to stand at the side door outside the school with no supervision because a lot of parents have no choice but to be at work for 8am themselves while some kids are able to sit in the lunch room which is very unfair to the other kids they kids are between the ages of 5-11.Some parents who have nothing to do all they go to the school an hang out with certain teachers and they are able to speak to the kids however they want this is unfair to me and other parents.I will really like if the board of ed could look into this matter. When they have PTA meeting an you try to address these very important concerns they tell u call Mr williams this meeting is not for that its to talk about movie night an unimportant stuff..

The Administration at PS56 does not care about the students or the parents. They only care about the students of parents that work at the school. These are the students who are given "special" treatment. Otherwise you are treated with little respect when voicing an opinion at the school. Don't be fooled by the fake smiles and kind words. You are talked about and disrespected the minute you walk away. If you work at PS 56 then you and your child will be treated like royalty otherwise keep close watch on your child because your child will not be given the respect that he or she deservdes. BEWARE of the 8am school opening policy. The students of faculty do not have to wait outside like the rest of the children.

The school Psychologist at the school took care of my son when he needed her support. The principal made an excellent choice having someone as caring as her.

P.S.56 is a strong school with many caring teachers.Teachers at P.S.56 always attempt to meet the children's academic and emotional needs.I see P.S.56 as a family of people who come together for the academic and emotional growth of all children under its roof.

My son has been a student in this school since kindergarten the teachers the principal Mrs. Clarke-Johnson and the parent coordinator does not address any of the parents concern. The response to parents are very negative and abrupt. The children's parent that work in the school receive special treatment. The children sometimes do not get to each lunch because the staff of the lunchroom decide who gets it or not. This is outrage for the public school system. Overall this school need to be under investigation. It is very sad to say that I believe that the staff of this school is only there for a paycheck.
