Too much of favoritisim. I really think teacher need to learn how to handle student not to forget they have been trained. teacher has zero tolerance level

My oldest daughter is currently in 2nd grade. My youngest daughter will be entering Kindergarten later this year. I was a little nervous at first this year given the level/content the first graders were learning. I thought it would be hard for my daughter but she has excelled this year so much so that she achieved the student of the month award. Now we have strict rules at home when it comes to homework and studying and that 15 minutes of reading everyday. However the second grade teacher has really encouraged my daughter to excel but urging her to increase her classroom participation. This has worked WONDERS for my daughter! My oldest has attended this school since Pre-K. The assistant principal and the teachers have really impressed me with their care and sensitivity! Everyone is nice and accommodating! I think the cirriculum is a little intimidating but since my oldest daughter is doing so well so be it! A very good school! I am pleased and anxious to see if my little one will excel the same.

My son began Pre-k last year and is currently in Kindergarten. He has had 2 AMAZING teachers and I can only hope for the same when my younger son begins in September. I feel this school is a safe bright and welcoming atmospere that helps my child focus function and feel safe. They have a great curriculumn and strive to keep parents posted frequently which I appreciate. I feel comfortable contacting my child's teacher whenever I am unsure or have questions. Communication is key and I feel very comfortable with the level of communication I have with the school and staff.

New principal this year and younger teachers

I graduated from this school last year and that is probably the best thing that happened to me at this school. All the teachers are into favoritism the school is very strict. The classes are also very short mostly because the period is mainly occupied by the teacher's ranting about the 'disruptive behavior' although I must admit I've noticed that kids are becoming more and more unruly. I really think this is a bad school not because of the curriculum or anything but because of the staff. I'm glad I graduated.

P.S. 58 is a great school. The nurses and teachers are great. I would love to see more extracurricular activities. Other than that I have no complaints about the school. The security in the school is very good and I feel safe having my son there.

I have two children that attend the schhol at the present time and one that graduated last year. Overall I believe it to be by far an amazing schhol. The P.T.A is made up of women that are so creative. They have a 'pumpkin patch' every year where the kids go pick one in the gym. They offer a dance program music (band) program and a chorus program. This ensures that no child is left out of an extracurricular activity. The teachers and the staff are made up of wonderful caring people led by a team of professional down to earth individuals that always have the childs best interest in mind. It is a clean safe loving environment and I feel priviledged to be a part of the school

Daughter not happy. For the last three years I have encountered teachers who seem to me like they should be teaching higher grades. They seem to also play favorites. I do not like the rewards systems either. I think all children should start out with 5 stars for the week and have them taking away if they are misbehaving. I think other languages should be taught to our students or offered. Drama should also be added.
