I give Trey Whitfield 3 stars only because this school is a very good school for the pre-school age too about 3rd grade. After that the teaching level drops. Also some of the teaching staff as well as the administrator attitude is not professional. Example The first day of school I went to pick my child up and as he walked off the line the teacher did not ask him who I was or did not make the effort to make sure that I was the person scheduled to pick him up. Also the day before orientation for the first school semester some kids stated to her that their parents will not be able to attend and the teacher responded "thats good less parents for me to meet". I am currently looking for a new school for my child at this time. My family alone had 5 kids in this school and we have pulled 3 out of the five so far and is now working on the others.

This is a really good elementary school. It is located in an underachieving school district and they are the only alternative to a good education. My child attended their nursery thru kindergarten program. I am proud to say she was reading when she completed Pre-k. I was amazed she could read and write going into kindergarten. Be prepared to do lots of homework. As a parent it was very tiresome to do two hours of homework with a 4year old every night but at the end of the school year you can see how much the children grow academically. There academic standard is very high and I say this using my daughter s exam result on the NYC gifted and talented score of 95th percentile. I agree with some of the comments below that sometimes the teachers are too strict and yell at the students to settle down. But the teachers are extremely caring and involved with all their kids. As for the leadership I believe it is strong and they work hard to keep the costs down. The school facilities are nice and the school is extremely safe. I will be sending my next child to this school. I hope they don t change. As a parent I had a great experience with this school.

This will be my children's last year at Trey Whitfield. Last year (their 1st year) my husband and I were so pleased. The academic standard seemed high the teachers seemed to be caring. All that changed this year. I don't know what happened over last summer but major changes were made and it was displayed in the demeanor of the teaching staff. The level of disrespect towards the children and the parents is astounding. Children are threatened with suspension at the drop of a hat. The screaming at the children is heartbreaking. I have even heard teachers saying to children "Shut your face!" Administration has no control and instead of hearing parents concerns they seem to turn a blind eye. As a parent you are not even allowed to drop your pre-school child to the classroom and can be chastised by one of the staff. Do yourself and your child a favor and interview objective parents or even the head of the Parent Council. Enroll your child elsewhere!

I pulled my child out from this school in Dec for many reasons..he has attended Trey since KG. This seemed to be a great HOME for my child until I realized that the school has changed and the focus went from the kids to the money. The curriculum standard is great but the teachers ability to teach the materials was terrible. My family and child was stressed out at 8yrs old. Almost all of the 3rd graders are being tutored after paying a tuition...I would advise anyone to NOT sign up their kid at Trey...the administration staff and things overall have gone downhill. My daughters started at Trey Whitfield at the ripe age of 3. They have had a wonderful education from here. Everyone always compliments how sharp they are. This is a wonderful school to send your child they will have a strong start. It is a good feeling to see how advanced your child is when they are around other children and your child stands out. This is defiinitely the results of the the teachings at Trey Whitfield!

My son started Trey this past summer and is currently in kindergarten. I am very pleased with the atmosphere and the nurturing caring way that teachers staff and administrators have shown. I also attended the recent Apple Picking trip and was very comfortable with the attention given to the students. I have been very involved in the classroom and have made myself readily available to the teacher for any parent involvement necessary in the school or class. Curriculum wise I am pleased with the level of learning and expectations of the students. I am looking forward to my son going very far with Trey Whitfield School! R.B

I enrolled my daughter into Trey Whitfield this school year into the nursery prrogram. I am amazed at what she is accomplishing at 3 years old. The curriculum is excellent the Parents Association is excellent and the staff of teachers and faculty are superb. My daughter knows and is able to spell words that a first grader can spell. The bar has been raised for these kids to achieve greatness and they are surpassing it. Trey Whitfield students rank highest amongst the city's schools in standardize testing and I'm so blessed for my child to start at nursery level where they are still being molded into futre professionals. Thank god for Mr.A.B. Whitfield and Ms J. Whitney's vision to educate todays youth and turn them into tomorrow's leaders and all at an affordable price.

my daughter started in trey whitfield school when she was 5 yrs. old. i was happy to put her in a school that was God centered but was not pushy and did not try to force people to change their religion. the teachers and staff are loving and nurturing especially in the lower school. my daughter is now in 8th grade and although there were some issues that had to be addressed mr. whitfield and mrs. whitney took care of the problems as soon as the parents made them aware and i am hopeful that my daughter's senior year will be her best. if you want to send your child to school where they will be loved nurtured and cared for i wholeheartedly reccommend the trey whitfield school. ms. antonia daniels-staley

My daughter entered this school at the age of 3. As many parents should be aware how difficult it is to find a school that will keep a preschooler all day at the age of 3!. My daughter is now entering the sixth (6th) grade and has blossomed and excelled all around as an academic individual. The teachers in the early pre-school years were excellent and laid the foundation for the future.

I would like to say that Trey Whitfield School has been a great experience for my son who has really come a long way. He started in this school from the 6th grade and now he is in the 7th grade. I really recommend this school to other parents. One of the things that attracted us to this school was the friendly and dedicated staff. Mr. Whitfield and Mrs. Whitney are trully a God send couple who have dedicated themselves to instruct these children in a positive and spiritual way. Thank God for people like this. As a parent of two elementary school aged children I am confident in saying that this school has given my children the skills needed to progress. As a result of starting at this school from nursery until the 5th grade both of my children were promoted past the grades they were supposed to be in when they transferred to a school out of state. Now in 5th and 7th grade their reading skills are above grade level. I would highly recommend this school to any parent who wants the best for their child.
