Great teachers and leadership at the welch. Every teacher has went out of their way to engage the kids and teach. A lot of variations of school activities to choose from and the programs have been carried out from volunteers who do a good job.

I love all of the extracurricular opportunities this school offers to my Kindergartener and 5th Grader. My Kindergartener is involved in the Spanish club. My 5th Grader is a part of the BBN (in school announcement news cast) Reach Track and Storm Team. He has attended the school since he was in Kindergarten and LOVES the teachers he's had and friends he's made. I love the diversity and acceptance at this school!
I would like to see the 2014 CCRPI score and receive monthly reports about Welch
Barely any security. Tardy is their motto. Academics is below average. Idea of a field trip is going to the auditorium and charging 6 for it.
Welch has great teachers and staff they are well educated and very helpful. This year (2013) class sizes have gone up considerably and that has affected greatly on the level of education teachers are overwhelmed and students are not getting the attention they need to succeed. Budget cuts from the state and county are the main reasons for the class increase. As parents we are very disappointed that Coweta school district has not taken steps to reduce other expenses instead of increasing class sizes. Some of the things they can do would be hire support staff that is able to teach part-time as well as do their support functions In some cases they can reduce support staff completely and use that money to hire more teachers. Typical government bureaucracy is affecting education and kids are paying the price shame on Coweta county school district for not taking care of the kids. If you are thinking about buying a house in an area so your child can go to school here look at other alternatives. We are going to be moving soon so our child can attend a school that has a better student to teacher ratio.
I truly believe that MANY parents will post PERSONAL opinions to rate a school based on their own EXPERIENCE. Over a period of 6 yrs since the doors opened I have personally witnessed a variety of parents (who seemed to always have difficulties with their children) express negative feedback. I believe that they are quick to have a strong opinion leaving the responsibility of their child's complete academic social & behavioral life up to the teachers and the school they attend. I feel that those parents will truly never be "happy" anywhere they go. After having two children go through this school and having experienced public school system in some other state w/my other children Welch is by far a good school. The teachers give 100%. If you are a parent who likes to have your child "pacified" when they need to be reprimanded then you are probably better off teaching them at home. The teachers here discipline. It would be helpful to those teachers if parents of the disciplinary children would actually help their child & then the teachers could give far more outstanding instruction & attention. It's a great school people. Don't leave the responsibility of your child to others
i have never had anything bad happen or say about Welch my son who is middle shcool now started Welch when Welch first opened and everthing has been really good. Last his last year there i came to have a issue w/his teachter i went to vice principal and the issue was resolved right away and never had any issue again until this year w/my daughters teacher her 1st year here hasnt gotten bullied by any other child however my child told me that her teacher pushed her and fell down because she was moving to slow for her. (not cool) but my daugher had told me before this happened to her that her teacher had made one of her classmate cry and had pushed other kids too. I went to the vice principal again and she took action right away but I want to find out if any other child has had any issue like this.
I love WELCH Elementary. I have experience in private schools myself and I had my 3 children in private schools prior to moving to Newnan GA. I cannot see a difference in the management and administration between a private school and a public school like WES because there is none in my opinion. I am very satisfied with the school and the staff and faculty. I am not saying it's a perfect school but I value their goal of achieving excellence in all aspects. I am grateful for all they do for my child and they have my complete support. The bonus is my child feels happy at school. This is my second year at WES the teachers are outstanding professionals and wonderful human beings. I feel so blessed. Thanks. God Bless WES!
Thanks to the new fantastic APs things will probably improve but this school badly needs a strong Principal with good organization skills and especially good leadership and people skills. Welch teachers are mostly great great library gym and cafeteria great front office staff. With over 900 kids day to day is largely about crowd control. It seems like you see the same parents volunteering all the time. Worry about test scores means the more advanced kids fall through the cracks. This school has a lot of potential--needs leadership better communication with parents and a more welcoming atmosphere.
i think the principle is an awsome person . she is wonderful nice and will eat lunch with you if she has time
Our son is going on his third year at Welch Elementary and he is happy social absolutely excelling! He exceeded all CRCT test score averages and is reading on levels many years past his current grade. The administration is understanding cooperative and professional. The teachers are caring positive and professional. Thank you administration and teachers of Welch Elementary!
I just moved to Newnan back in October. So far I have been very impressed with the staff at Welch. I have always been greeted in the front office with smiles. What impressed me the most is that they ID you every time you check your child out. I didn't always get ID'd at my son's school in Fayette Co. His teacher communicated with me frequently and any time I needed to talk to her she was available and very understanding of my child's needs. It is a new school so I expect that the testing scores aren't the highest the school doesn't rate the highest etc. But if the school continues to run as well as it has or better this school will be a top school in Coweta in the next few years.
Welch Elementary has a very caring staff. Their curriculum and test scores are some of the best in the state. The staff listen and keep the parents involved in everything going on in the school. The PTA is very involved always coming up with different ideas to make things better in providing for our children. I think with the right amount of funding for the education system in the state there could be even more endless possibilities for our children to learn. Welch makes learning interesting and our kids want to learn more by staying so involved.
overall this has been a good school but let me warn you some teachers pick favorites amongst the kids. If mom or dad does for the school guaranteed your child will be liked. If you are a parent who cannot be at the school every minute of the day then expect your child to be left out of alot of things. I have seen favoritism first hand at Welch. Mostly in the extra curricular activities (ie spelling bees honor chorus etc)
State of the art facility in a wonderful community.
SummerGrove finally has its school! it is state of the art and a fantastic location and facility. It looks like it is emerging from its initial start up concerns but is still probably a year away from being a top 3 school in the county. But it is certainly headed in the right direction!
We are having a great year at Welch. The administrators are doing a fabulous job of running the school and building relationships with the parents and staff. My children are learning so much. I volunteer every week and help with the Welch PTA. It is a great school with a great staff!
This is a great school. I parents are working with the teachers to make it a great school for the kids.
Our child is receiving an excellent education at Welch. When we have had concerns we've been able to approach the teachers and administration with no resistance from them. Also they welcome parent volunteers to help in the classrooms and with extracurricular activities. This is a great way to know exactly what is going on in your childs class if you ever have a concern!!!
I am happy to hear some people like Welch unfortunately I don't feel the same way. The administration is incompetant and vendictive. When does it become permissible for an administrator to yell at students parents teachers or teaching assistants? The next time an administrator waves their finger in someones face I hope that person bites their finger! At Welch the motto is you do it the Welch way or it's the highway even if it is clearly the wrong way!
