Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA)

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

If you did not grow up in the town your child will have to fight to be noticed both in the classroom and on the fields/courts.

I have sent three children through the High School over the last ten years. They received a very good education which allowed them to be very successful in college. The vast majority of teachers are dedicated and accsessible. Their are varied extracurricular activities. The sports program is very competative but because of the school size there is opportunity for most kids who want to participate. The improvement in the administration over the last 7 years has been dramatic. The current Principles do an excellent job. I had every intention of sending our children a Catholic High School in a nearby community but almost never regreted the decision to send them to the Public High School.
