End of Grade Tests (EOG)

In 2013-2014 North Carolina used End-of-Grade (EOG) tests to assess students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The EOG is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of North Carolina. Students must pass the grade 8 EOG test in order to graduate from high school. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the tests.

We initially moved to Oak Ridge for the schools and haven't been disappointed. The caring staff commitment to excellence and dedication to a quality education has earned ORE numerous well-deserved accolades.

My daughter is one week away from completing her kindergarten year. We hesitated on whether or not to send her due to her very young age at the beginning of the year. She also had some special issues requiring speech and OT. She was matched with the best teacher for her special needs as well as getting extra help from her therapists. She has truly blossomed and excelled in every way. The teachers and staff of the school treat the kids with love and respect and have a gift of being able to sense how best to deal with unique situations. I am absolutely thrilled with the experience we've had on every level and so very thankful that we live in Oak Ridge where we are blessed with this awesome school. I truly believe that the stage has been set for a successful learning path throughout my daughter's school days because of the quality education she is receiving at ORE.

Oak Ridge is a fabulous school with exemplary teachers and an awesome leader who are continually raising the bar. They are driven for excellence in every aspect of education. The parents are very active and supportive. What a great school!

Amazing school! This school is head and shoulders above our previous private and public school experience. We came from a state that ranks higher in educational standards than NC. We were nervious about the schools but couldn't be happier with Oak Ridge. This school is top notch. We are thrilled with the individual attention teachers give to students at their level. The leadership is excellent. The school community takes pride in their school parents are very involved welcoming and friendly. Oak Ridge has a large population of very bright students. There are many peers here for highly able students. This is a special place and we are so thankful our children can attend here.

The principal and teachers go above and beyond for the students. All three of my girls have dyslexia. My youngest is severe and is 7 years old and still unable to read. After trying a learning disability school and paying $1600 a month for a year with little improvement we had to put her back into the public school system. They are in the process of having a resource teacher trained with Orthon-Gillingham for her.

My grandchildren attend Oak Ridge Elementary and my daughter-in- law is the Spanish teacher at Oak Ridge. I do all I can to help their school including saving the Boxtops for Education labels with my friends' help.

We had our kids at Oak Ride ES. We very much apreciated the faculty and staff while we were there but never to the extent of where we are today. We moved out of statethis year and now have our kids at a Private School and it is still not to the level and standard that Oak Ridge set. If you live in Oak Ridge know that we have lived all over due to my job and there are not many schools in America like Oak Ridge. It is truly a special place and we miss it dearly. From the principal to the teachers assistant everyone cares and takes time to truly know your child. The academics is one of a high level private school and is unlike any other school in Guilford County. This is one of the top schools in the country much less Guilford County. We miss you!

I am very proud of Oak Ridge Elementary Staff and Parents. This has been a challenging year and everyone has stepped up. My daughter is a happy student who faces challenges head on in part because that is what the staff at ORE has shown her. We love ORE and it's staff!

I am so surprised by the quality of the teaching the attention given to each child. Teachers are well trained and they are very motivated to everyday to give their best to every student. I have heard about the school and the teachers before my daughter joined in the Kindergarten but now I am seeing it for real. It's very transparent on the teachers face that they are there to bring the best out of each kid. I have a peace of mind every day leaving my daughter there that she will be spending her day in the best way possible. Wonderful school wonderful teachers!

Oak Ridge is a great school. They provide excellent educations and care about each student. Teachers fo the extra mile to assist their students achieve success in both life and academics.

My son is in kindergarden and we really love this school. All of the teachers are so friendly and want the children to thrive. The staff is very receptive to having parent volunteers and makes you feel welcome. The school has high standards for their students but I don't feel like it is crammed down our throats. All of the teachers who teach music art spanish gym and library are outstanding. We are a small town with a great school! Most of the time all you have to do is mention ORE and you get a look of envy from other parents in nearby districts.

We moved to Oak Ridge in 2003 there were plans to build a new school then but finally in 2005 the entire school opened. It is wonderful for the students to not be outside in trailers at all. The teachers have alot of parent volunteers and any time I have had questions or problems they have been addressed quickly and effectively. We have been very pleased with the quality of education and environment at Oak Ridge.

Simply put The best school in the county. Good students good parents good teachers. Go to the next county over and you can compare. They have just built a new school so I think the over crowding will get better. It is odd to see some of the negative reviews here. Some people can't be pleased and maybe it is not the best school for their specific needs.

This school is very cool and unfriendly with the exception of the secretary. I think it has gotten too big. There is a very condescending attitude about parents and students with special needs. It is not an open welcoming school. Teachers are primarily interested in test scores. Have not seen much thinking beyond 'dittos'. On the surface the school looks great but dig a little deeper and I think you will decide to find a more pleasant environment for your child. We moved our daughter to another school.

Poor discipline strategy. Teachers were not very parent friendly. Curriculum was not challenging or hands on alot of ditto work.

Oak Ridge is a wonderful school with very experienced teachers and leadership. There are always parent volunteers around and very open communication between parents and teachers. The academics are top quality.

Moved here from the Northeast and an area known for A+ schools. Very impressed with the caring environment open door policy toward parent participation/partnership professional approach to teaching and kindness/warmth of BOTH students and teachers and staff. Really great school! Some classes have gotten big as students move in BUT they divide them up and hire another teacher as state law requires when the max. is hit (without any ?). I have a K and 3rd grader and BOTH have been challenged here more than in their previous school in the Northeast and both have adjusted great. Lots of transplants in this area as well which I think makes the school a better place and makes it easier for new students coming in to make new friends.

A wonderful school. We just moved here from N. VA and are very impressed by the teachers and academic environment. My child has really excelled here.

Highly stressed teachers. Not very child friendly. Even the janitor feels he can discipline children. Population in area has already outgrown school being built. Very large classes.
