California Standards Test (CST)

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

This is a great school. The voices of the parents are hear. It is a school that is family oriented. Families are welcome to come make suggestions and help the school grow. I personally love TCN. Everyone that works there love what they are doing everyone knows everyone and it is kind of a big family. Teachers try their best to help students in every way. It is a school with a lot of college going culture where faliure is not an option and team work is very important.

Last year I transferred my two children to TCN from another school in Oakland. I was amazed how much better they did academically. This year I have a daughter in Kindergarten with a wonderful teacher. TCN has excellent leadership and strong parent involvement. All of the staff at the school care & support all the students. That is why TCN is a California distinguished school.
