I'm currently a senior. I went to lake weir my freshman and sophomore year and I love the teachers and the jrotc program. Im So proud to have purple and gold running though my veins. Even though I'm not there I'm a cane for life. This is a great school and great accepting people.

I'm a freshman over there and I absolutely love this school! I got excepted right away and I am right now in the pre-IB program over there! I love the band and the colorguard or drill team whatever they are called! They are absolutely amazing and that is what Lake Weir is known for is because of the IB program and the Marching Canes . The only problem I have at Lake Weir is that some of the teachers don't teach properly it's mostly the honors teachers that don't because they just expect for you to jump right in and know all of it. Which is not a great way for a student to learn. But it's an amazing school! The school could improve by getting a new varsity football coach but that's about it besides talking to the teachers about their lesson plans!

I'm a parent of a sophmore in this school great teachers not problem at all only thing dont like the recepcionist at the administration office not friendly and always driving like a maniac trying to get to school on time .

I am a sophmore at Lake Weir High School enrolled in the Pre-IB program. October of 2008 I transferred from North Marion High School to Lake Weir and I must say I was welcomed and immediatley felt at home. The teachers and staff really have a handle on things and it's such a loving community I couldn't imagine myself else where. Going to school takes a burden away rather than creating one. Especially being in the Pre-IB program things can get hetic but you have so much support from the school. I adore it.

I am a freshmen at Lake Weir High school I have only been a member of the school for a few months and my veiw or the school is among the highest. Transfering from middle to high was sure to be a scary thing but the administrators were very kind and helpful. I am a student in the 'considering to be accepted IB program) I currently have a 4.7 GPA and am on the drill team as a part of the 'Superior' band led by Michael Jennings and Lynn Bennett. I am proud to be a 'Cane' and would recomend this school to any student young or old athlete or child prodigy!!!!

Lake Weir High School is an awesome school to be at. I am a Junior in the school and this is my first year there. In most of the public schools I've been in the teachers didn't necessarily care about the students all that much. They just want to do their job and get paid. But at Lake Weir High the teachers actually care about the students. If a student is having trouble understanding something they will sit down with the student and explain it to them. Not to mention our football team is doing very well this year. D And once the construction is finished I have no doubt that Lake Weir High will be an even better school. Our principle deans teachers and all of the other staff are really doing a marvelous job at this school.

I am a student at Lake Weir High. This is a great school. Many people think this a bad school but they are wrong. I'm a freshman student taking sophmore classes with a 3.4 GPA and in all honors courses. . Our school is also about to undego major construction and when it is done the school will be beautiful.

I love my school. We have a great new principal strict new deans and great get to know counslors wonderful teachers alot of extra cirulum actitives. My school also has the best band in marion county and I am prond to say that I am apart of it in a way. Parents on the other hand don't give full support to our school.

I like the school. While I'd agree that there are issues it is a mostly rural school dealing with kids that are not the cream of the crop. The instructors are wonderful and care about the kids

Over all I think any school you go to you are going to have what parents call'Bad Teachers' but Lake Weir as a group I would not say has bad teachers. Parents and teachers need to work together Its just as much our job to be there for our kids and it is the teachers. As for our Football team well look out world things are going to change for us. We have Coaches that want to be at our school and help our boys win some games! And last but not least our new Principle she will not play around she means what she says and that is what our school need.... Co Canes !

My child attends this school and I have found that the teachers do not seem to care what the students do or don't do they just tolerate the class and do not concern themselves with whether the student understands or not. Of course this does not apply to all the teachers I am sure however it has been the general rule for the teachers my child has had over the past 2 years. Also very little homework is assigned how can a child prepare for college without structure. This school has been a major disappointment. In attempting to communicate with staff I found them mostly to be uninterested and borderline offensive.

Lake Weir High is very poor in many areas. First off the athletic department is terrible. They desperately need new equipment and bathrooms by the baseball field. The reportcards are NEVER on time. The phone is either not answered or answered after 50 rings! Absolutely unexceptable! They are not preparing our children for college. They never notify the parents of things going on that we might like to be aware of. This school has A LOT of room for improvement! Get With it Lake Weir!

Lake Weir HIgh School is a great school! I would know this because I attend to this school. I love being at Lake Weir especially the atmosphere and the support of the staff. Some people think of our school badly because of the lacking strength in our football team (which is improving tremendously) and some of the troublesome students. Not everyone at Lake Weir is bad many of us are very smart and do well in our academics. Like me I am a honors student with a weighted GPA of a 4.0 and would like to persue my career in psychology. All in all this is a great school!

This school is a disgrace. It's not only in physical ruin students have a low moral veiw of their school and teacher's. We live in an upper middle class neighborhood and are forced to send our kids there in the hopes that our few good kids get their school grade up. Don't even think about trying to get your child transfered to another school you will run into stiff opposition from school employee's including the principal. I hope the school gets an 'f' next year so we could afford to go elsewhere. My $1700 a year in taxes can do better. Gov bush should send his kids or grandkids there i'd bet we then would see some improvement.

This school is great if your child gets involved in school programs if he or she is not athletic or gifted in the arts then they probably would be better off at another school

I graduated in 2001 and I feel this school is one of the worst in Florida if not thee worst. Education is not the primary focus of this school. If I had it to do over I would of went somewhere elese. This school does not prepare students for college. The adminstration did a horrible job. The counselors were awful with providing information for students about college. The music department did not prepare me for college and it was only geared toward making the director look good. The student was not the main focus of the program. Bad school!

I would have to agree with the other parent that sent in a review of this school. I pulled all 3 of my kids out of the entire district due to problems at the school and on the bus. The kids should be able to attend school without fear of other students harassing them by other students. Not happy at all with this school or the school district.

I do not belive that the school's number one priority is the education of our students.
