My daughter attends this school and I love not only the her teacher but the other staff members as well. The environment of the school is warm and welcoming.

I formerly taught at this school and if it wasn't for the salary I would have stayed here for the rest of my life. It was a wonderful school to work at. The teachers aren't overwhelmed as they are in most schools (including my current one in the city) we had the flexability to do a lot of great projects with the students to relate the material to them better and the principal is such a nice person to work for. She treats her staff as equals and values their opinions which makes all the difference in the world.
my child is a special needs child and has improved greatly at this school!
My child is in kindergarten at this great school. Starting schoold for the first time is a very big adjustment for the students as well as the parents. The staff at this school made this such a pleasurable experience! I personally could not have asked for a better teacher for my son. Keep up the great work!
Accawmacke Elementary is a great school. My family and I couldn't be happier with the education that my child is receiving. The teachers are compassionate and caring. I feel that the teachers and administration always have what is best for the students at heart. Many times the parents that complain are the ones who are not involved and really don't know or seem to care what is going on. Get involved instead of complaining. Great job Accawmacke!
The SOL's overwhelm the curriculum to the point of exclusion of core academics. My child had NO science in fourth grade as the bulk of class time was spent on SOL Social Studies preparation. The school offers little in the way of extra help for struggling students. The afterschool program is geared towards SOL prep and not individual needs. We have had some excellent caring teachers in the past. Unfortunately they seem to be outnumbered by those who don't seem to care that they are shaping the future of our country. They seem to lack the enthusiasm that inspires students to achieve their potential. While the music program is good the art program is not. In 4 years I have seen my children come home with only a handful of completed projects. Students move on to a new project while the prior is unfinished which sets a bad example.
Accawmacke elementary is a great place for children to attend. The staff is always pleasant and willing to meet each child's needs. My children feel safe and cared for there and have been challenged and nurtured in their daily classroom time. The PTA is very active and provides extra programming to supplement the range of activities available to each student including choir beta club girl scouts and TAG.(Talented and Gifted education) I am especially proud of the way all children are treated fairly at school regardless of their background. There is an excellent opportunity for the non english speaking students to assimilate into the school. The test scores over the past few years have been continually improving and the teachers are all certified and accredited to teach in the area they are assigned to. Obviously my family and I could not be happier with our school!
I feel this school does not help our children the way they should be helped. The principal and teachers look at their selves and not the children. They worry about new laws then help the children pass with good grades. The staff plays favortizm with the students. They pass over the children that really disserve to get outter awards. Teachers and Principal need alot of improvment in that school. Kids need more education in that school most students are not doing well because the teachers and principal only worry about them selves and make the children look like they are not trying well if they got the help they needed they wouldnt be struggling so hard.
