Sandburg is an overall good school but my child experienced some difficulties here. I don't think that they have a very good science department. My son complained that the teacher didn't teach him very much. His grades in most of his science classes were average although he tested well for the category on the ACT. The teaching methods for these classes needs to be improved. Especially chemistry.

I atteneded this school for 2 years..honestly i didn't like it because there's no diversity being an african american female in a mostly white school is difficult and there is some racism. i Didnt like this school until i moved..then i realized how much i missed it and maybe it was because i was here for my first 2 years of high school...i've had good times and if you're going to Carl Snadburg be sure to take advantage of EVEYTHING ....Ms.Zambuto is the best

CSHS has successfully prepared my two older children for college and is presently educating my youngest. All three have been accepted to top schools in the country. My children were not athletes but participated in a plethora of activities like Debate Dance Newspaper Art shows leadership programs as well as taking advantage of community projects. The teachers were excellent and the curriculum challenging. Keep up the great work!

I loved Sandburg because the school is so big it allows you to take any class you want. You also can try out for any sports team even some that most schools do not even have. Yes it is a big school but it gives kids a exchance to experience the real world and college like atmosphere.

Sandburg offers excellent educational opportunities for our children. The Marching Band is an incredible experience which will benefit all members in many facets of their adult lives.

If your child is an athlete or an academic then it is a great school. If your child has a disability that falls under mental health that's another story. I have been fighting this school for 6 moths to get my chikd's needs met. It has been very difficult. The staff there is not educated on mental health disabilities. It's a shame my child has suffered.

Be ready for your child to experience alternative lifestyle couples freely making out in the hallways between classes. 3200+ teenagers in one building is insanity.

Both of my sons attended Sandburg and are now independent responsible young men. Sandburg was a wonderful experience for my sons as well as a god-send for me. Neither of my sons were interested in sports but that didn't matter. Sandburg has something for everyone. Both boys were able to find their niche. The staff were very accommodating and and always available to both my sons and myself. Our most memorable staff member was Mr. Johnson. He was always there for my younger son who had lost his dad right before freshman year. Kudos to Sandburg! Thank You from a very grateful parent..... )

This school puts too much emphasis on sports and not enough on academics and other after school activities that don't involve running or a ball.

Both of my children attended CSHS and received a great education and terrific socialization. They graduated from top colleges and are now both medical professionals. The variety of programs reaches students of all talent levels. Any student with the intelligence and work ethic can create a curriculum that gives them the keys to unlock virtually any door.

This was the worst possible school i could have sent my hardworking child to. All she focused on were sports because they take those more seriously than the students grades. It is a school that I feel safe sending my child to but they also put a lot of pressure on there students. the 30 point rule is bogus. Overall i am ashamed.

The special needs programs offered at Sandburg are wonderful. The inclusion of the students in mainstream activities is great. What a terrific atmosphere.

When I moved back from Florida to Illinois I specifically relocated to Carl Sandburg High district. My Older daughter was a graduated of Carl Sandburg and I knew the school just keeps getting better. My younger daughter is now a senior and I am very pleased that I made the decision for her to also attend Carl Sandburg. It's the best High School a parent and student could ever ask for!

Amazing this school is one if not the best high school out there. You feel very comfortable and everybody is very nice. The teachers are very good at helping the students and doing whatever it s that they need to to make sure we succeed at everything we do. Go eagles!

I think Carl Sandburg is a great school. It offers so much for the students. We have moved into Orland Park so our kids have the oppertunity to get a good education. However I hope in the future the test scores go up. They are not bad but I see room for impovement.

Carl Sandburg High School has been an interesting experiance. The independence gained here was life altering. yet the experiances here are somewhat dissapointing when it comes to dealing with classes and faculty members. The school in general is fine academically and alright socially.

My child attends Carl Sandburg High School and overall I would say that it has been a positive experience for her. The athletic programs are outstanding and there are a variety of extra-curricular activities to choose from. Academically the school is very good. Many of the teachers are willing to go the extra mile to help their students achieve academic success.

A great high school to send any child to. They have provided my children with a great education they rank high on AP performance and ACT performance. If you need to make a decision this public school is outstanding.

I moved out of the Chicago Public Schools to Orland Park in time for my daughter to start her high school years at Carl Sandburg High School instead of in a Chicago public high school. In addition to having a diversified curriculum to challenge the overachievers such as my daughter as well as meet the needs of all the other students I have been extremely pleased with the attitude towards extracurricular activities. It is wonderful to see a school in which intramural sports as well as involvement with various honor societies choir band musicals and other school activities is encouraged and admired by the students. Being deeply involved in school activities not only looks great on a college resume it also keeps the kids out of trouble. The staff is excellent and for the most part approachable. I could not ask for a better high school for my children.
