I am currently graduated from Jones High School with a honor's diploma on the previous date of June 6th 2011. My school is a great school I had passed the reading FCAT with a 3 and the math with a 4. I also had a 6 on my Writing scores. They work hard to teach us at Jones but it's the children who come and don't try to put in good effort that also reflects on the school scores and gives it the "bad name". No one should label JHS from it's past reputations. I am attending Bethune Cookman and working on completing my life long goals. As long as everyone at 801 S Rio Grande stay focused as Mrs. Poteat would say they'll be just fine!!! BB

Jones High School despite all the criticism it recieves from the media continues to be a well rounded place of high achievement. Students there recieve a quality education as well as a fun learning experience. Trust Me im a former student and loved it!

And if you are not at Jones High School from 7 20 am to 2 35 pm you have no room to talk about the 'type of people the students are.' Nor should you have anything to say period because you are not there on a day to day basis. And in regards to the students thinking that athletics is the only thing out there for them false. The coaches are instilling otherwise in their players. All sports players attend tutoring before being allowed into practice. So how about that!

Jones is the best kept secret. This school has made me feel warm and fuzzy ! my son loves it and there are so many programs every black kid should go to jones they will get you to college it is like a family.

I am a student at Jones High and at first I was skeptical about attending Jones but after my freshman year there i found a home in Jones. Jones is filled with many opportunities that may not have been available to me at another high school. I'm truly glad I gave Jones a chance and came here to further my education. It is not what many outside people think it is. Trust me I know because I used to be one of them. So on that note give Jones a chance when sending your child to high school!

I feel that anyone who is not at Jones High School every single day has no right to speak ill of the school. I think Jones High is a great school one of the best. Just because the school has a D grade(missed a C by a few points) on the FCAT you cannot say that all the kids are all D students.

This school really needs to do more work. The scores for the FCAT are unexeptable. The students need more influence.

I am currently a student attending Jones High school. I received a 5 on the FCAT writing and 4 on both the FCAT reading and math. I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA. I know I will be attending A college or university. Jones has provided me with the education and information to succeed. Jones has even taken me to a variety of college campuses consisting of; The University of Florida University of Central Florida University of South Florida University of Tampa Velincia Flagner and many more. Even though my parent isn't involved in the school she is involved with me. It hurts me to hear these comments saying Jones is a bad school and you should attend another school. I love Jones. Even though I don't plan on living in this area in about 10 years my future children will attend Jones High School and so will my children's children.

Jones offer a wealth of advantages for students who wants to learn. don not take this advantage for granted.

I think that Jones High School is still a great school.

I feel that the blame should be the parents. They are the ones that should be providing support and feedback to their children about the importance of school. Yes you have athletics but what do these children have to connect with society it sure isn't the entire kids. You must admit that these childs are not bad kids there are some that want to learn and some that do not. Dr. Williams is a fine principal.

I seriously believe that Jones High have quality teachers in place that care about the well being and educational development of the students. However the school has been hijacked by the football program. The students have been led to believe that success can only come in the form of athletics thus most do not apply themselves academically.

Jones High School is going down hill. years ago it wasnt that bad. but if things keep going the way it is it will remain the worst high school in orange county. if you want ur child to get a great education in a orange county high school look in to Winter Park high school (an A school) Timber Creek (is a B school) or University High School because of its out standing IB and Global Tech magnet programs.

Jones Jones Jones! Wake up people and parents. Its not the school its the students and the parents that I blame for Jones down fall. The school board has done what they could to provide services for the students. The teachers have spent their long days and and evening to see that their student is learnig.Where are the parents ? Yes some a small few of parents are dedicated to their children as well as others education. Now you have parents who just can't read or write and think any type of help is an insult.Parents need to be more proactive with their children and the school. They need to understand Jones isn't there to fix broken homes but educate the children for a better future. It always happen to those who help the less fortunate when things don't go right everyone wants to blame the one thats trying to help verse the one being hepled.Don't blame Jones!

Jones High is a good school despite what the state standardized test results say. Jones has produced great individuals. It is going to take the help of the students' parents working sided by side with the teachers in order for the test scores to improve. There are some parents that are extremely dedicated in their children's education. However more parents need to get involved. It is going to take more than words from the parents in order for the scores to improve. The teachers can't do it alone and it will take action from the parents if there is going to be a drastic change.

You have got to stop blaming the school! Everything starts at home! There is not much parent participation at this school! Parents wake up! You have got to start reinforcing what your children learn at school at home! The teachers are doing what they are supposed to do! Parents what have you done to assist in your child's progress academically? This is not targeted to all of the parents but the majority...It's really a shame...I guess they have to blame someone huh?

Jones High focuses too much on extra-curricular activities versus academics and life skill development. Many would suggest that extra curricular activities serve as a means for social development but not at Jones. It has become about the money and creating pride through great band performances and winning football/basketball games. When I attended Jones winning football or basketball games did not come before learning. The new coaching staff is literally sacrificing kids future to win games. It is a bad situation and people question why I will not send my children to Jones High.
