Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT)

In 2008-2009 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math. Students in grade 5 were also tested in writing, science and social studies. Students in grade 7 were tested in geography, and students in grade 8 were tested in writing, science and U.S. history. The results for reading, math, science and social studies are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The OCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.

This year is my stepson's first experience with Owasso schools due to a change in parental custody. The difference has been dramatic. My son came with his own problems learning disabilities huge gaps in his former education and behavior issues related to ADD/ADHD. The teachers and staff at the Owasso Eighth Grade Center have just been a dream helping us and him with this transition. Each teacher has been well-organized and accessible by phone and/or e-mail so that it is easy to stay on top of our son's academic progress and behavior. The opportunity is wonderful for male and female sports drama journalism computer band etc. Our son is in low-level academic classes for math and science in a normal classroom where he works at a level and in an environment where he succeeds finally! He also has a study/career skills class which has been a tremendous supplement. We're thrilled!
