After nine years at McGuffey Foundation School my sister and I both went to Talawanda High -- and had fantastic experiences. I don't think the transition from middle school to high school was more difficult for us than it was for anyone else. THS has some great teachers who really care for their students and the school does have a good feeling of community. It's always great to come back to Oxford and meet up with my old teachers and I continue to have great friendships with my old classmates. I'm now a student at one of the nation's top universities thanks to the education I received at THS and McGuffey -- and even after three years in college I still think I learned more in Darlene Mahaney's freshman Social Studies Honors class at THS than in any class since then. The biggest criticism I have of THS is that the Honors/AP kids tend to be kept pretty separate from everyone else. There are so many students in my class I never got to meet.

When I graduated from Talawanda four years ago I did so with a firm foundation that put me at an advantage over many other high school graduates. The teachers at THS care about their students and having studied education I can say that they use best practice and are qualified good teachers.

Incredibly dedicated teachers even though the rural country in the district continues to vote down levies. They deserve their reward! Thanks.

Talaanda has many dedicated hardworking teachers administrators and parents. However it is a split district and old resentments have caused serious funding support and extracurricular opportunities to be lost. The district relies heavily on Miami university to make up these differences resulting in inflated scores on tests of student and school performance.

Their failure to listen to the problems/concerns of their students.. leaves me to believe that a lot of 'work' needs to be done in order to make THS a success.

Talawanda is an excellent school district! We couldn't be happier to be sending our 3 children to Talawanda Schools! Go Braves!
