California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The staff is very concern with student achievement and offer help for students who are ELL. Keep up the good work. Parent portal helps to keep track of students progress.

Plenty of communication with respect to fund raising events. Communication is considerably less free-flowing to parent's pertaining to needs performance or helpful insight to compliment your child's development. Concur with previous posting of poor bedside manner of the staff. Remain hopeful for the school and staff to improve as they progress through developmental learning stages.

My Children have been attending this school now for 1 1/2years. Previously my 9r old was homeschooled because he would become overwhelmed and anxious in crowded rooms at a different school in Lancaster. When I registered him at Rancho Vista the principle and the 3rd grade teacher met with me to come up with a plan to make him comfortable. I was extremely happy with the care they had for my child. He now loves school loves to read enjoys his teacher and brings home great grades. I receive weekly phone calls and emails with updates of school events or news. My 1st grader is a jumping bean but his teacher has been patient with his behavior and he brings home straight A's. All in all I have been very happy with this school.

We are new to this school/area. I really believe this school is average at an educational level but due to communication reasons I had to give a below average rating. I was told that the staff here cannot be responsible for every student. The bedside manner of the staff I've encountered is appalling at best. Should you have any concerns regarding the staff I don't recommend calling the district- you'll be highly disappointed. I continue to keep my children here due to convenience & decent education but becoming a volunteer or a member of the PTA is definitely out of the question. I have yet to see strong Parent/Teacher communication at Rancho Vista.

My God Son attends this school and it is awesome!! They teachers are very helpful and really care about their students.

Rancho vista Elementary satisfy my expectations as mom. I love the fact that my daughter came from no rading at all since she was in a private kindercare to get the level 2.0 in her first grade. Teachers are proffesionals and make sure yor kids are learning and teachers show deeply concern so you as parent make the 'duo' the kid needs to succeed.. Parent -Teacher the bes tool for learning!!!

Well I'm excited to start my kids at Rancho Vista this year I had to fill out an inter-district form for them to attend there because kept hearing good things about it. It beats Tamarisk which is where they are supposed to be attending according to the district. So I guess as time goes by I will find out for myself how good this school really is or isn't!

Both of my boys attended this school. I been involved with the school site council and experience the caring attitude of the teachers wanting to improve the acamedics and overall environment to be a great place to learn. I attended the school award ceremonies and great parent participation. I would highly recommend this school to parents considering to move to the AV. Keep up the great work.

I love this school. I have a fifth grader third grader and kindergartner here. The teachers are good and love the principal. I think that they have good activities for the kids and great field trips. The GATE program is okay but where is it great in the Antelope Valley? Yes the school is over crowded but again what school in California isn't? We have been pleased with Rancho Vista and the PTA does a great job!

I totally agree with the previous comment about the 6th grade teachers(Stiltson and Fitz) but the principal is the best Mrs. Sour. I have a 6th and a 2nd grader and as a parent that i am i had some questions Mrs. Sour took the time to answer all the questions asked she is always willing to answer questions with a smile on her face and this school take a lot of pride and encourage kids to be better and rewards them for that which that boosts their self-esteem and makes them want to be better overall i love this school maybe a bit overcrowded now and from my kids point of view the lunch meals are not that good but I can overlook that.

My child has been attending RV since Kindergarten and I am extremely happy with the teachers. She is a sixth grader this year and has the best teachers. Mrs. Stilson and Mrs. Fitz (Fitzgerald) demand a lot from their students. But I can tell that my daughter is learning this year. The math may be hard but I can see that Mrs. Stilson takes the time to help her students understand the problems. In Mrs Fitz class she has to write essays every month. The positive feedback she gives to the students encourages them to continue to become better at writing. They are caring teachers who are concerned about the children in their class. Bravo to both of them!

This school was excellent a few years ago. Today it is just an average overcrowded place with combo classes and neurotic teachers.

I Love Rancho vista school. I have 3 children who have gone there. One is Graduating from High school this year. Rancho Vista teachers and staff care about the kids. They make sure everyone is taken care of. They set goals and help the students reach for the stars.

Rancho Vista Elementary deserves a 10 out of 10

This is the greatest school in the antelope valley. It is a little overcrowded but lets face it that is what the antelope valley has become. They just developed a new enrichment program which offers multiple activities after school and they range from Spanish classes to tumbling. The staff works very hard with the students and the parents. Mrs. Sour is a great principal who is very active. You actually see her out on campus throughout the day and after school. she does not hide in her office all day like other principals tend to. Rancho Vista encourages parent involvement they have dozens of regular parent volunteers and they have the best PTA. The staff is very friendly. The best of all is they have no tolerance for bad behavior they are on top of keeping all the students safe.

Great school and welcomes parent involvement.

I' m glad my child joined this school it's the best

We moved into this neighborhood just so that our children can go to these schools. Great school a lot of kids though and I would prefer to not have as many kids in one classroom. It wasn't always as crowded but a lot of new homes in the neighborhood. Great School though and I'm glad that both of my kids were able to attend.

The school is small and at capacity with students. The current teacher/student ratio is 30 to 1. Outrageous! There are too many students for any one teacher therefor I dont feel my kids are getting the best education.

I believe the quality of the academic programs are good although I dont believe the system in which to get your children involved is good enough. This is an elementary school so the availability of extacurricular activities is mainly provided by the city and not the school. I believe the level of parent involvement is high.
