This school.. Some great teachers.. Some teachers give to many referrals.. Not a place for racist people.. Not really much bullying going on.. Drugs and smoking are a bog problem here. So if you worry about your child getting into that i'd be careful. . Soda machines only have diet . Some classes you do absolutely nothing others they pile work on work.. Big school a lot of walking . Can get confusing sometimes.. Theres not much of a popularity problem.. Theres the boys( mostly) & girls who think they're better than everyone because they play football or cheer or what not.. Its an okay school. Some call it Palmghetto .. This came from a student. So ya

I am a senior here at Palmetto high school +class of 2013) and I can ensure you that palmetto us great school with great opportunities. I have been a part of the Aice Program Dual enrollment and honors program for four years. These are all programs that will you stand out in the crowd to colleges 60% of my class are graduating high school with college classes already done. This school works to make sure everyone achieves their success. We have went from a D school to a b school in a year. Everything is getting stronger and the students here want to learn. The environment is so comfortable. We have had no fights or drama. If you ask someone who never went to palmetto what type of school it was they'd tell you many negatives. That us because outsiders voice their opinion in the past. The school has changed there's new teachers and administration. They have everything going good.

I am a teacher at palmetto. While I think we have an overall decent administration and many good teachers it seems to me that there are some teachers out there who are too lenient and lax based just based on student behavior. Some do not enter enough grades and some put all their grades in at the last minute. It drags down morale and referrals/conferences rarely help student motivation. Some classes are huge (approaching 40 students per class!) so this also does not help create an educational environment. Unfortunately many students do not have a stable family structure at home and this also leads to a difficulties in the classroom specifically with a teacher's expectations for achievement. There is a big big drug/alcohol/absentee problem and many do not fear the repercussions. The school could improve with stricter guidelines for teachers more guidance from administration and a firmer vocalized stance from the principal specifically with using the intercom more. Overall it's an average/okay school but it could be so much better because there is potential but it is unrealized.

I attended PHS in the late eighties. Even though I'm fond of the memories the education that I received was not very good. I used to find myself using the excuse "I went to Palmetto High " as an reason for my lack of knowledge in the real world. Oddly enough people understood what I was talking about. I hope that things are better now for the children that are attending PHS.

I go to palmetto as a 2013 student i think that to school is a great place for your child to learn how to mingle with other races and such and also most of the staff are caring and supportive people.

I'm currently attending Palmetto High i'm a Sophmore and as a Freshmen I let my grades slip but the guidance counselors here are great they will listen to you and help you do and get better grades and they will personally walk up to your class and tell you cool opportunity's on how to get your credits and getting a higher GPA for example palmetto high offers an after school program after school called 21st century where students can recover credits that they need if they failed a class also the sports here are great go tigers!

I think Palmetto High needs more help with ESE . They tend to push thoses kids under the carpet and there very unorganized.

Need stronger attention to the things that work for the school. Sorry to see you let team success program slip away.

I attended Palmetto High School for my 9th 10th and half of my 11th grade year. Plametto High School has been my favorite school by far. Palmetto has great teachers and great sport teams. The school will keep you very involved. The Team Success Organization made students want to at least get a 3.0. The only downfall about the school is the guidence counselors. I would very often go to my guidence counselor for advice with college and I can not say she helped me once. Overall besides the guidence office I believe that any child who wants to be involved and have a good memorable high school life should attend PHS!

I attended Palmetto High and thanks to them I am now achieving my goals as a member of the U.S Army! Without the help of great teachers and role models I honestly dont want to know where I might be now in life!!

I went to Manatee school for the Arts for my Freshman/Sophomore years but switched to Palmetto for my Junior. Gargantuan mistake. The administration only cared about sending me to a state school. Did not care about my interests. Uninvolved with my life. I have never fallen asleep in class until I came to this school. I can only say good things about Mrs. Cassidy. She was a phenom math teacher. She is overqualified for the position but that means she knows the material better than her hands. Art was better than other public state schools but still a joke. P.E. was a joke. We stayed in the gym the entire year of soccer Class. Ms. Valcercel is a horrible principal. Does not listen. If you want sports come here. If you want growth fun and exploration go for MSA. Can't stress horrible administration enough. Bad Disciplinary. Fights. Sorry I attended.

I attended Palmetto High 4 years all of my high school life. My freshman and Sophomore years were the best! I had passionate teachers who'd do anything to see you succeed and actually enjoyed their job and it reflected amongst us students. However Junior year was a stressful year. Members of my class were suddenly failing classes for the first time and we all had the same excuse...The teachers. It kinda felt like they gave up on us. My only advice to future students and parents is to get involved in your students academic life. Find out what it takes to get your students to where they want to be before its too late. If they are interested in College Make sure they focus on academics and Advanced Placement courses. Make sure you see what they are learning and get them any extra help they need. Students Get involved!!!!

This school gives students the chance to live & learn all at the same time. For example this January all of the students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher got to celebrate with a day at the fair. This sets a goal for the other students to accomplish. The teachers are great and try to make learning fun. They reach out and improve not only their school work but their day. They put a smile on everyone's face and I would recommend this school to anyone in a heartbeat.

I have attended palmetto senior high schools as well as other school and the school is very unorganized and presents itself in a very sloppy manner. I highly recommend not sending your child to this school.

PHS enforces silly dress codes but when it comes to the important things they fall short by a mile. Many - but certainly not all of the teachers don't really care if their student are actually learning the material they are teaching. Guidance counselors and administrators don't consult with parents about crucial schedule changes. It's ironic what this administration feels is important for parent involvement.
