This school and its teachers are not well prepared to teach students with learning issues or problems. They teach to the middle to upper eschelon of abilities in most cases while still not providing enough challenging material to exceptional students. I have had two children attend over the past several years and have found several of the teachers to be inflexible especially the older teachers. I even experience an terrible and derogatory comment made about my child's ability. The teacher who said this is still there. If I were to do it all over again I would try to find a more caring school whose teacher's are more accepting of learning differences.

We have been parents at Juana Briones since 2006 and another to start this fall. The atmosphere parents and teachers are dedicated to the children they teach and help at home. We love the supportive and friendly school culture and really feel our children thrive and learn so much - beyond the great academics. The cultural and social diversity at this school really makes Juana Briones a very special school. They have an updated Web Site Address http //

We moved here a year ago and my 2 sons started Juana Briones in Fall 2008. They have loved every day of it and had no problems adjusting. It's a great small school with friendly staff teachers and very involved PTA.

My daughter started attending this school this year in First Grade and we have had such a wonderful experience with the principal her teacher and the parents. From the atmosphere the activities and the curriculum we are so happy and proud to have our daughter attend this school!

We have been involved with Juana Briones for twelve years with all three of our boys. We simply would not want to be anywhere else. The school is demographically rich virtually all teachers are wonderful and the support services gracious and easy to work with. The emphasis is always on the child's. each child's growth and success not cookie-cutter results. Parents are often very active and their activity has been welcomed by all. This is an unusual school and you would be fortunate to have your children there.

It's our fifth year at Briones; we have two children there. Every teacher we've had has been outstanding. Two of our Kindergarten teachers have worked together at Briones for twenty years and two of our First Grade teachers for over ten. They can teach any kind of student from high achieving kids to those with special needs. The principal is great; He understands that teachers and students do their best in a supportive environment. There is a strong 'no-bullies' policy and recess and lunch time activities are structured to ensure all kids can participate.

Juana Briones has been a wonderful school for both of my children. The school has many of the best teachers in the district. They focus on the individual child and they are very nurturing. There is a strong parent community that supports the principal and teachers. The teachers have been supportive of me and my daughter even after she moved on to middle school and we had some questions about whether or not the public school was the best placement for her. My son will be graduating this year and I will miss all the wonderful Briones community.

this school has a high level of parent involvement outside of the classroom. parent involvement is variably welcome in the classroom depending on the teacher. My children have attended k and 1 at this school. Music art and PE are offered one session pwe week. There is an occupational health unit attached to the school which serves a large number of children with varying disabilities who are incorporated into mainstream classrooms as much as possible. Academic programs are generally consistent with the rest of Palo Alto schools.
