I am an alumna of Mayfield Senior School and am so thankful for the experience that I had as a student there. At Mayfield I gained confidence knowledge and important leadership and critical thinking skills that have served me well throughout the years. After graduating from Mayfield I attended a top notch university and went on to develop my dream career. Not everyone who goes to Mayfield is guaranteed to follow the same path but the school provides girls with the right tools and opportunities to build a strong foundation. I rated the school 4 stars and not 5 because if I have one complaint it's the Administration- which did not do a very good job of listening to its students and of addressing its students needs. I

Re College acceptances. Mayfield's cache appears to be slipping - The school leads you to believe their reputation opens the doors to Ivy League institutions however none of Mayfield's Class of 2011 were accepted in the Ivies - yet students at other area private schools were. Mayfield also does not seem to recognize the reality of financial need in a climate of economic downturn and counseled students to apply to schools based on "prestige" (what would be good PR for the school on their acceptance list) rather than where the student was likely to be offered financial aid - many students had to make their higher education choice based on finances - had they been better counseled the girls could have applied to schools more likely to be a better financial match rather than getting them emotionally tied to schools they eventually had to decline. In general the school administration seems to be removed from the reality of their students' lives and the larger world in general. My daughter had a good experience here but from a parent's perspective the experience was frustrating all 4 years - with an administration that was oblivious to the needs of its families.

This school is overall great and encourages the girls to do well. 100% of the girls go to either a college or university.

This school is incredibly successful at marketing itself but all the warm fuzzy idealistic talk has nothing to do with reality. The students are secondary; maintaining control of its image and reputation are first. Learning is the cram/exam method. There's no place for independent or (academic) critical thought. Teachers reign supreme in the classroom. Questioning anything is considered 'challenging the teacher' and is one of the many ways to get demerits or detention. The girls are treated like children who if given the slightest freedom will misbehave. The girls as a group seem relatively immature and there's no place here for a girl who is bold independent or questions the conservative curriculum. Non-Catholics have to suffer through the old-fashioned religious classes that overtly disregard the value of other religions. The administration is cold and remote the rules are petty and the girls are demeaned by the phoniness of it all.

as a previous student i look very fondly back at my four years spent there. the school is small enough for each student to actively play a significant role in any activities she wishes to pursue. i am now finishing up college and was able to attend a superb university thanks to mayfield and the experience education and confidence i gained from there.

I loved attending this school. I did have a hard time with the rigorous academic program but that is pretty much the point of a girls' private high school so I would say it is a big plus. The opportunities in art dance sports foreign languages and every academic subject rival or better far larger and more expensive schools (although Mayfield is expensive). The nurturing and fun environment in no way detracts from the demanding curriculum. As far as the cliques and sense of entitlement that some of the girls are said to have I think it is no worse than at most other public and private schools and the school does not encourage it at all. I look forward to sending my daughters to this school one day.

The Conservatory for the Arts Program is the best arts program within a high school in Los Angeles. The Visual Arts students have exhibited amazing art at the local Armory for the Arts several times and the Dance Concerts are professional. The school values the importance of the arts equally with the academics for a holistic education.

Mayfield Senior is an outstanding school. Our two daughters received exceptional academic training; one excelled in the theater program and one excelled in the athletic program. I provide my highest rating for this school.

Fantastic Arts program. (Must see annual Dance Concert in the Spring!) A true cut above in terms of the arts compared to other local private schools.

Incredible place to not only be a student but to work here. I have been blessed as an employee of Mayfield Senior School. The young women that Mayfield graduates are women of character compassion and humility.

This is an excellent school. Teachers are committed and energetic and a most valuable resource. Specifically one teacher has provided the girls with numerous opportunities to intern at university's science departmetns and the opportunity to do independent work. I know of no other high school where girls get to do work in thermodynamics. In the past four years they have matriculated six students to Caltech. Still the measure of a good school should not come down to the college list. If you visit this place you will be met with joy and some extraordinary people. The students can explore their spirituality reading works by kant CS lewis and theologians of today in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. The environment is bucolic. The tuition is also very reasonable because it is a Catholic School. If you are looking for a values based education this place is it!

As an alumnae of mayfield senior I enjoyed many things about the school such as the all girl environment which was crucial to my education and the care and dedication of the teachers. Mayfield's teachers are some of the best teachers I have ever learned from and that is comparing it to a highly rated university. Teachers like mrs. bortz mrs.tighe ms. bologna and mr. moran have truly given mayfield a very special and integral element to the school. As for the administration the new head of school has taken a quite conservative approach to the curriculum.

Mayfield nurtures each student allowing her to excel in academics to pursue her interests in sports and fine arts and also to foster a sense of community responsibility. It is a peaceful campus and one in which any student can gain the confidence to excel.

A most wonderful education and preparation for young girls getting ready to become ladies; surprisingly good program in math and science; great networking.

I came to Mayfield as the only one from my school and the decision to come was hard for me. I am so happy I chose Mayfield because not only have a received a great education but I have also met some of the most inteligent beautiful and caring girls I have ever befriended. My suggestion is to get involved and meet girls from all grade levels to get the full experience. As ASB president I feel the sense of community here at Mayfield everyday.

My daughter is currently enrolled at Mayfield. In choosing schools she had the option of attending five other schools. She chose Mayfield because it was clearly a beeter fit. It offers small classes an outstanding curriculum a spiritual education and extremely caring staff and faculty. One only need visit the school to experience a special feeling. It is a unique place.

I am a graduate of this school 30 years ago and my daughter is a current student. We both received superior educations and made lasting and wonderful friendships. My daughter will soon be in an Ivy League college made possible by Mayfield. Many of the women I went to school with here have also sent their daughters. We believe in private all- girl education and see the value in out own lives.

Mayfield has a wonderful arts program. The Conservatory for the Arts is the jewel in the school's crown. No other local school can compare to this arts program.
