Sunrise Elementary is a wonderful school! I am proud to say my children attend this school. As a secondary English teacher I have to laugh at the review posted on August 1 2012 where the parent states that the English curriculum is sub-standard... I would like to know where she got her English education because there were several mistakes that glared at me as I read it - including misuse of the word "to" which is taught in early elementary school. Maybe she should focus on her English skills rather than bashing this school's instruction of it. I thinkg the PSSA scores speak for themselves. All students are passing with flying colors! Check them out above. If you would like to see where the district ranks overall I believe at last check Penn Trafford was in the top 50 of 501 school districts in PA. Since I am a teacher I feel that I can comfortably state with certainty that that is an amazing accomplishment!

I dont want a great school I want one that pushes my child to excel at the 4 R's and Sunrise Elementary fails to provide a quality education. With curriculm changes almost every other year and the basics of math not being taught well enough to build upon I feel the education level is sub-standard. The basics need taught so the more complicated mathematical concepts can be learned. Children are not grasping the basics and therefore can not move forward. The advanced children are held back until the slower learners catch up. Therefore no one advances. The english curriculm is also substandard. Properly annunciation and written communication are not enforced. Teachers just want the kids to write but they do not correct them to write properly. My children have received high marks for hideous sentence construction and word usage. Vocabulary is not expanded due to "all students" are not ready to handle those words. No child excels at this school since no child is allowed to fail. There are to many teachers who do not care about the education received however the few that do care do an absolutely wonderful job. Its ashame they are to few to make a difference.

This school is very accomadating to many learning challenges. The PTO is very involved in doing a lot af activities with the children. The only thing that I can say I don't like is that they do not do many field trips. There has only been one for my child in four years.
