It has the feel of a small community and the teachers and staff are friendly and committed to educating the students.

The school teaches the whole child- academics social skills leadership skills. The curriculum weaves in art and music as well something which often gets left behind. The school is very nurturing- the children all care about eachother and you can see it first hand.

I can say nothing bad about this school. The parents teachers and staff have been warm and welcoming to our LATINO family since before day one. We attended last years open house as future incoming kindergarteners and the pre-kindergarten bar-b-q in the begining of the year. We are very satisfied with the programs available for academic success as well as for enrichment. Our daughter is shy but she has grown so much in her first year at Old Adobe. I would recommend this school to ANYONE and EVERYONE as it is in my mind and in my HEART the BEST school choice for all families looking for an EXTENDED family for their children. Our younger son can not WAIT to be an Old Adobe Elementary Student.

We were new to Old adobe last year. We were welcomed by the warm staff and friendly children. The kids were eager to learn my daughters name and to know all about her. We went on to put our kindergartner in this year. He was having behavioral problems for a little while. The principle office and teachers all came together with us parents to find a working system. It was very effective. He is thriving making good choices and playing so well. We thank everyone at Old Adobe for helping us in so many ways! THANK YOU! And the scores are some of the best!!

This school has a caring and informed community who believes in nurturing the whole child. Besides excellent education in reading writing and math there is an added emphasis on the arts. My first grader says he hates holidays because he can't go to school on holidays.

I enrolled my kindergartener in Old Adobe instead of the school we live by because of Old Adobe's excellent academic program and not for 1 day have I regretted that decision. On the first day of kindergarten Mr. Keig my daughter's teacher told a group of us parents nervously waiting by the classroom as the morning bell rang 'This is YOUR classroom!' That held true all year. We parents had unprecedented access to the classroom during class time. And the amount of parent involvement was considerable because of the inviting all inclusive attitude held by the Old Adobe staff. She's a first grader now and I couldn't be more proud of any parenting decision I've ever made for her. Choosing Old Adobe has been the smartest choice and most rewarding thing I have ever done for my daughter. Sincerely & gratefully the Shelton family

The list is long if you are looking for reasons to choose Old Adobe Elementary School. My daughter started this year as a very shy and timid girl and because of the wonderful and close knit community of the school and the excellent teachers my daughter has blossomed into a very self confident first grader. Her teacher Ms. Stoep is very talented and the dedication of the staff to work as a cohesive team to benefit all of the students at Old adobe is impressive. You will not be a number or a nameless face at this school. Everyone from the Principal to the school secretary to the librarian will know your name and all about your child! I looked at private schools because I was not happy with the public school system however Old Adobe is top notch and I would recommend this school to anyone.

We love OLD ADOBE!!! We recently moved to Petaluma and we were very happy to find that Old Adobe was our designated school. We have a friend who substituted there years ago and has been telling everyone about this gem of a school. She was right! Old Adobe rates right up with our last school ( A Great Schools rated 10). Our son was apprehensive about the move and changing schools Ms Stoep and Lulu helped to make a seemless transition. The school truely feels like a family. Because of its size the teachers and the staff know each of the students and are very eager to help. The music program is amazing! The terminology that my first grader now knows is impressive! He has continued to excell in both reading and math. The library is great! Ms. Hinton has made reading even more fun! We love Old Adobe!

Old Adobe Elementary is a warm environment that has a real community feel to it. The parents are welcoming and it is easy to become involved to any degree. The teachers maintain high academic achievement without the pressure and work with the parents as a team. The kids do very well on standards tests and there is also a concerted effort to balance out the curriculum with art music and creativity. This school has a lot to offer in many areas and it's a pretty special place.

My husband and I love this school. We would normally have paid for a school like this. You won't find a better school in Petaluma!

We have only been here for six months and feel like we have been welcomed with open arms by staff and fellow parents alike. All the teachers in the school seem to know our children's names. Parents all greet each other warmly each morning during drop off and will introduce themselves to newcomers. Becoming involved in school programs and committees has been easy. The PTA officers are completely approachable and excited to have new parents get involved. The Kindergarten teachers have a deep understanding of early childhood development and the importance of creative imaginative play and artistic expression as part of the daily curriculum. The kindergarteners are thriving academically and exceeding state standards in this low-pressure nurturing environment. We feel that this school is a hidden little gem that needs to be discovered!

We've been at this school three years and I am really happy with the overall experience. The school has a principal that is going on his 4th year and there has been some bumps in the road in creating a cohesive environment for all. However this year the school has enforced new behavior policies that are awesome and I've noticed a huge improvement to the demeanor of the children knowing that there is low tolerance to bullying and the likes. I can't say enough about the education my kids has received. So far in Kindergarten thru Second grade the teachers have been incredible and my kids have excelled in reading math and art. The teachers are passionate about what they do and the librarian is the best! This is a small school; you get to know all the parents and kids and you'll feel safe and comfortable here. I highly recommend!

We are attending our third year at Old Adobe. I can't say enough good things about this school. It has above average API a fantastic parent community with amazing involvement great teachers a beautiful campus in between the vineyards a really unique curriculum which infusing the arts and the greatest library around. It is a nice little school with about 2 classes for every grade K-6. The smallness makes it very unique and gives it a great community feel.

After years of watching kids who misbehave dictate the faculty and the curriculum we will be sending our kids to a different school in the fall. I am so disappointed and disgusted.

As a whole I would consider Old Adobe average for California schools. Positives There are approximately 275 students which enables staff to know all the students and students to know everyone. The Librarian and Secretary make you feel like part of a family. New principal who is well liked by parents staff and students. Negatives Curriculum is not strong. OK for average abilities but doesn't meet needs of high or low. Located on extremely busy road.

I have been at this school for 8 years and have never seen a bunch of teachers who are as fabulous as they are. We have an extraordinary librarian who has been at the school for over 30 years. I have 2 children in the school right now and they have received the greatest education I could possibly imagine. Much better than a private school been there done that! We have an incredible parent involvement ratio which has never decreased in all the years. You would not be sorry to send your child(ren) to this school. My kiids and I have never been so happy. It is an old school house remodeled but the looks do not make the school it is truly what is on the inside that is impressive special and unique. You drop off your child and you know they are safe and at home.

I'm very pleased with the direction (in 2006) Old Adobe School is taking. Parental involvement is great quality of academic programs is good and getting better and availability of extracurricular activities is improving (ask them what's available now.)
