Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)

In 2010-2011, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to test students in reading in grades 3 through 9; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in English language arts in grades 10 and 11; in mathematics in grades 3 through 11; in science in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11; and in social studies in grades 8, 10 and 11. TAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The grade 11 Exit Level TAKS is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

I love this school. Its kind of huge but the students mostly get along well. The principals try to know their students and the teacher keep getting better. The AP classes are excellent. Its still high school so it can be a drag but i wouldn't want to be anywhere else. At my last school the teachers didn't even care if you failed.

As a student this was probably the worst school I've seen. Administrators do little to help keep the school healthy and classmates constantly throw you off. Band staff gets more insane each year and the students there act like they forgot about you. Stuff is constantly stolen from me. Basically a student would say "We don't do that here" and tell you in a rude manner to "shut up" while ignoring you afterwards. I once complained about the price of their yearbook and the staff shunned me off. Spirit seems to vanish during school pep rallies.

Great school! Great teachers! Great Administration! Teachers and administration focus a lot of attention at giving all students the opportunity to learn!

Hendrickson High School is an inspirational place to be because teachers foster relationships with students by recognizing and nurturing individual talents and individual academic and social needs.

The school is very diverse and has a good vibe to it. The Principal is nice and cares about kids doing well in school. The teachers seem to really want to push their students to do well. My daughter has been pretty happy with this school. I think things are going in the right direction for the next two years we have here.

I love this school!! My daughter is a student and the teachers are great! No complaints.

This school is wonderful. My boy went to Hendrickson for high school and he received a scholarship to UT for engineering. I am very proud that he continued to push himself and that the teachers there trusted him.

Safety and discipline lack in this school! The ratio of troubled kids is way out of control!! I feel sorry for the teachers there that are to busy babysitting troubled kids instead of teaching the kids that want to learn

Wonderful like-new school with caring faculty and staff. AP courses are great. Nice balance between extracurriculars - unlike many high schools as much emphasis on arts and academics as athletics.

I really love this school...i just had one to graduate and one that will be attending the school next year. I also have to say that I really loved my daughters 12th grade principal he was very understanding and was always there when I needed him to be if you had more staff that cared like that all school would be great..

HHS has been a great experience overall for our daughter. The principal has a passion to make Hendrickson a great place for ALL students to learn and excel. This year teachers seem especially dedicated to putting our kids through rigorous coursework to prepare them for college. I wouldn't trade schools for anything!

I really enjoy Hendrickson It does involve lots of work for AP classes but what school doesn't? They are gaining lots of extra curricular activities like anime club theatre news paper yearbook debate many sports including tennis swimming and golf choir band FCA foreign language clubs UIL academic teams and art club. The Academic teams for UIL are extrodinary and have gone to state. With new coaches in football the record has really improved and the the new principal is great and nice. This is a school that is very accepting of students while having the ability to challenge students.

I have to say that hendrickson is very nice and new. Although I don't think there are a variety of extracurricular activites for the students. Not all kids would be interested in band sports or debate. I also strongly believe by talking to my child and her friends that teachers who are coaches...and teach another class cannot teach as well as other teachers.

Overall the teachers are great - there are always a few exceptions but overall I am very pleased. We built a new home within 1 mile of Hendrickson just so both our kids would attend this high school. I am so glad we did!

I agree with the person above me the school does have teachers who play severe favoritism. It seems that most of the teachers are really student friendly with people who are 'preps' like shopping non stop at Abercrombie & Fitch Hollister and American Eagle. And how she was talking about kids with the hole in their jeans most of the teachers won't even say anything about the kids but other kids like that goth type the teachers will send them to the office the second they walk in.

Very nice facility. Poor coaching in football baseball. Tons of talent being waisted. The band is tops in the state.

nice new school very good as far as supplies books parent involvement etc. but not too great as far as the administration...they seem unsure of things a lot of the time

Great School great students great teachers and a wonderful community.

My husband and I have tried 2 times to meet with the principal. We are told that she can not meet with us; her schedule is too busy. There are also teachers playing severe favoritism (yes I know this happens everywhere) and writing students up for having holes in the knees of their jeans while others have holes on their rearends and are not written up. Hmmm. Girls soccer does not have enough coaches (only 2 coaches to split btw Varsity and Jr. Varsity) IF the other team is over an hour late for the game the game proceeds. With the amount of homework my daugher was up past midnight to complete her homeowork. Sportsmanship is not everything.
