Too many students assigned to a room(30). They lied about school curriculum(Spanish was to be available from grades 6 to 8) Staff including principal doesn't return calls. High turn over in teachers. Teachers actually quit during the school year and aren't permanently replaced. I'm currently waiting for my daughter to be called to attended another charter school.

This is not a good school! My daughter is in the 6th grade and I do not want her to attend another year. This school does not comply with parents request to help there children. I have met with the principal on many occasion to help my daughter it has been 3 months and the school has not done anything. This school has no order and the students are out of control and I have seen them with my own eyes that the faculty has no control over them when my daughter told me about this in December I told the principal and now it is June and nothing has changed. I advise all parents if you want your child to go to a good school Wakisha charter school on 9th & Jefferson street is not it. Do not send your child to this school because the faculty can not teach them and give them order. This is not a good school they lied about what they have to offer.

I wouldn't refer this school to anyone. My child attended last year and an 8th grade teacher would never respond to any notes sent. Another 8th grade teacher thought they were the same age as the kids. How are the children supposed to get an education there with adults like that.

I've attended Wakisha for 3 years and currently I'm in High School. Wakisha is a good school when it comes to academics the teachers and staff are great as well. It's the students that cause problems. When I was student at Wakisha my first year was a wonderful year but then the next year came and people began taunting me for wanting to learn. By 8th grade things started to get a little better and I made some friends. But Overall Waskisha is a great school. My advice for any current students or any soon to be students is to block out all of the nonsense and focus on the learning experience. Before this school I didn't know so much about African American History. Please I hope this school prepares you the same way it prepared me.

I have been attending wakisha for 3 years and i have seen other students come and go.wakisha is an excellent school academicaly but no socailly our community wise. the school is in bad condition but they are movin to a new building in january.the grading system is ridiculous. A 70 is a F. Plus they do not have any extra cirricular activities. I will be graduating this year and i do not reccomand this school to any one that isnt all about grades.

The principal and her minions are horrible. This is the most unorganized school I've ever come across. No order no communication no principal until about 11 a.m. The children hardly know her. And then there is the troll who does the morning announcements-and that is it. Dr. Brawner don't you do anything else all day except sit on your behind? Why can't you ever substitute? You Jan and Elbert totally suck

Wakisha Charter School has an excellent academic curriculum. This curriculum also includes 3 years of spanish. I enjoy the faculties committment to helping the children at the school as well as keeping the parents up to date with student progress.

This school is horrible and it is not teaching my daughter anything. She complains all the time about the students and the teachers. This school needs a real upgrade with their staff.

My name is Anthony Braxton and i attended WCS for two years. Wakisha gave me a great learning experience. The work was extremly challenging but you need to apply yourself to succeed in that school because the teachers are strict some students and parents would say they are 'mean' but that is not true Wakisha is (for lack of a better word! lol!) the school that getts it jumpin! Im out Class of 2009!!!

I have 2 children at Wakishia 7th & 8th grade. This is a pretty good school. I can say that they really try to teach our children and help them prepare for their future. There is always room for improvement (ie...transporation lunch program inexperience of some staff members) but there are plenty of positives there as well. Overall....a smart choice for our children.

'Horrible conditions' my children attended 6th grade there 1st and last yr there sept 2008* june 2009..As a result they are enrolled back into private school**which they have been attending since kindergarten'never compromise education especially @ wakisha although the directors are great people w/ a plan but hopefully it will kick in soon ..Because i was not happy/nor impressed to the point that dadand i made the decision not to send them back...And school bus service 'disgraceful'.......

I've worked under the leadership of Jan E. Gillespie-Walton she is a fabulous leader and her outlook on the future of our children is above and beyond most.

My name is jerome bennett and this my 3rd and final year at Wakisha.I think Wakisha is a good school to send your child to for 6-8 grades because the teachers are great and really know their stuff.

I think its a great place for kids to learn my kids go their and they have been receiven a's in that school!

I am a former student and was there when it first opened. I will say being the second graduating class that during my time there i learned a lot. I don't know how it is now but when i was attending we did go through a lot of hardships but most of the teachers there were great and very supportive. Especially Ms. Bland i will say she is my favorite teacher and hopefully she is still there because everyone loved her. ok i'm out Class of 2002

I have attended wakisha since the 6 grade is was great the 6 and i am now in ther 8th grade. But now omg it is a messed up we don't have a spanish teacher and honestly i don't think that we should of taken spanish for 3 years!! we haven't had a spanish teacher going on for like a whole month. The teachers are nasty it's only one. The school is a mess. The new princple don't comtribute to anything.. The 8th grade haven't gone on a trip yet; some say it was only because it was only one that made honor roll. That's not fair; they gave us so many projects it don't add up to no type of since. They put so much pressure on us 8th graders the expect us to be an example to the grades below bump that.

Wakisha charter is a very bad school I didnt learn anything there; the cafateria is disgusting and the faculty are very mean. I do not feel like I can get a great education at this school. Because of Wakishia I do not believe college is in my future.

im john carr and its my second year here and i made honor roll for 6 and the first marking period of 7th grade and im going to keep on trying. i think wakisha's a great school with very challenging work. sometimes you feel like whoa what was that and if you're in 7th grade advanced class you'll even get 3 projects at the same time and sometimes it feels a little extreme but we have to learn sometimes don't we
