Horseshoe Trails is an amazing school teaching Mandarin Chinese as a world language and has The Best Principal actually she was voted National Distinguished Principal of the Year in 2013 !! Most of the teachers have Gifted Certification and many have Masters degrees in Curriculum & Instruction they know how to teach ALL the kids using many different teaching styles to compliment the kids various learning styles. These students are kind and care about one another with behavior problems corrected quickly as a team effort between teacher principal and parents. The Choral program is outstanding. I can't say enough about how elated our daughter is to go to school each day and the schools AIMS scores show that this A+ rated school knows how to get the STEM concepts through to each student. So glad we found Horseshoe Trails - This school is Terrific !!

Horseshoe Trails is an amazing school! With an award winning principal and at least 18 Gifted Certified teachers my children have exceeded all expectations here. I have had 4 children attend this school since it opened and each and every year the teachers have always shown excellent communication skills compassion and a true love of teaching. My children are learning Mandarin Chinese and still have all the encore classes including Art Music P.E. and time for library and computers! The school is striving continuously to introduce technology for each and every classroom. If you ask my kids they will tell you this school is the "best ever!" As a parent I appreciate that the PTO supports and addresses many concerns school have these days with funding and keeping our school community spirit alive.

Love this school. Fantastic Principal amazing teachers very engaged and active PTO EXCELLENT programs including an A+ rated unique horsemanship program which is centred around character building; Love and Logic focused. Each child is treated as an individual and their needs are catered to on that basis. Extremely pleased with this school. Would recommend it to anyone.

Horseshoe Trails is a great school with the most amazing leadership and wonderful caring staff. Mrs. Marlow and her office staff always greet youI and make you feel welcome when entering the school. I have had my children at this school for the last 7 years and have had am amazing experience with both teachers and families. They education they provide is the best and the teachers really care about their students. You can't ask for much more than that! The horsemanship program is great for the students and they love it. What better way to teach citizenship. The parents who help run this program dedicate their time to help each and every student. We also have the Mandarin language being taught which my children like and are learning a lot! HTES is a great school!!

I love the review about the character building programs they have....Then a lot of parents and children need to enroll in these classes at this school because apparently its not sinking in! We have another year of drama the moms who are getting involved in the drama is ridiculous. The fairness and problem solving goes to those parents who put up the most money and whine the most. I am disappointed in what has gone on and I am now searching to remove my child and put them somewhere where there is true character building and learning values that are important which is not currently being role modeled by a lot of kids. AMAZING how many bullies and that speaks for the parents as well as the students.

Our families experience at Horseshoe Trails has been AMAZING! The dedicated principal and teachers are exceptional! They genuinely care about the students and the progress of each individual student. Along with the outstanding academics they also have a character building program. This program teaches the students about trustworthiness respect responsibility fairness caring and about being a good citizen. I am thankful that the school recognizes that being a good person is also important. We are grateful to be a part of Horseshoe Trails along with all the wonderful families and students!

We have been an HTES family for 7 years. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the teachers and principal. They have been involved and caring in my childrens education as well as social and emotional development. I also had an incident with bullying and they were very involved in helping identify who was involved and correcting the behavior. Every year each teacher has gone above and beyond for my kids. Even though CCUSD is small- the dedication to the kids here is HUGE! I am proud of this district and the people that work here.

My daughter just started 2nd grade and has been at HTES since Kinder. She has had excellent teachers that are all true professionals and caring individuals. We have felt that each teacher works to understand the individual child and help them become the best they can be. The principal was outstanding when we had a bullying issue and worked with our very young child to identify the "bully" and help the other child correct the behavior. My daughter reads far ahead of her grade level and is supported by the teachers to continue to excel in this area while also giving her the extra help she needs in math. She comes home everyday happy and thriving. This is an excellent school with amazing teachers staff and administration. My inlaws have commented that my daughter's homework is far more extensive and difficult than what another grandchild brings home from a different valley district. We are extremely pleased with HTES.

As a parent that formerly sent their child to an accredited private school back west I feel that HTES is comparable to a private school education. We came to the school for the gifted program and to continue the academic rigor that my children were already used to. The school is 14-17% gifted and a good majority of the teachers are gifted educated or gifted endorsed. There are caveats to choosing a public education vs. private education. For a public school that cannot be selective of their students HTES lives up to "excelling" grade.

This is an excellent school. Our daughter needed an IEP and they made sure that she had everything she needed. Mrs. Marlow really cares about her students and their well-being. It is too bad the Cave Creek area keeps shooting down the bonds because it will make the schools suffer eventually.

My daughter attends this school & having 3 older children out of school I have seen poor schools and excellent schools- HTES is one of the outstanding schools. There are 3 sixth grade classes- 2 honors math classes- as a parent I find that accomplishment amazing 2/3 of the class are in honors. Anyone living in the Cave Creek area knows that horses are a way of life here. What is not to like about offering students a one day a week chance to interact with horses? The district offers other language programs also.. another elementary school has Spanish Immersion classes. Not on board with learning Mandarin? Our children will be one of the few in the country who will be able to communicate with people of a huge country that is definitely a world influence. My daughter and I are both sad that this is her final year here- she was in kindergarten the year the school opened.. her class is the first class to complete every grade.. again I applaud Mrs Marlowe for her genuine concern for all the kids.. the ability to make decisions that benefit the entire school and even though I am not active or a part of the PTO - the PTO here is fantastic and they work well with the teachers & principal

As a PTO member I wanted the readers to know fact from fluff. HTES is an excelling school with 2 A+ programs. Our Mandarin language was chosen after 5 years of district study and a trip to China with 5 HTES staff members. Being one of 200 schools in the world honored with a Confucius Classroom from the ASU Confucius Institute is a source of pride. The nearly 300 families who attended our opening ceremonies would agree. Hands on science has produced scientists who have received school and district awards. Real World Social Studies is being honored with recognition of our students from the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest. TRRFCC Horsemanship is a Character Counts Promising Program that reinforces trustworthiness respect responsibility fairness caring & citizenship and is supported 100% by donations. The overcrowded parking lot is a result of school choice and parents who care about a school that has teaching and learning at the forefront.

Unfortunately this school does not live up to all its hype. The school has a lot of fluff and not much substance. The AIMS scores show this especially the 6th grade ones for 2010-2011. The principal Mrs. Marlow cares mainly about the image of the school. She does not survey her community to see what programs they would like to see on campus. She makes those decisions alone and tells them what she is bringing. Equine and Mandarin programs are two such programs now at the school. By having these two programs (and Mandarin is now considered a CORE subject) included in the daily schedule the main subjects of math reading language etc. are not focused on enough daily to ensure mastery of concepts/standards. The parking lot is SO crowded before and after school not to mention high classroom sizes in the upper grades due to all the open enrollment she accepts. There are some good caring teachers. It seems as if the principal though tells the teachers how and what to teach and does not allow for much individual creativity freedom and fun. A lot of parents are not on board with the Mandarin and Equine programs. I would rather see a hands-on science and social studies program.

Both of my children went to HTES. This school not only has an amazing principal but also an amazing staff. Both my children exceeded academic expectations and scored very high on AIMS. They are successful learners and enjoy the challenges of each school day. I give this credit to HTES for giving them the foundation they needed to become the independent learners they are today. The staff creates an environment where students are the priority and their success is paramount. Teachers teach to each student s individual academic level. After visiting HTES it is clear why families come from miles away to enroll their childern.

This school has exceeded my expectations. My 3rd grader is very bright (although not gifted) and each of his teachers has found ways to challenge him and to keep him excited about learning. Mrs. Marlow does a wonderful job and makes a point of getting to know each family. It is an outstanding school. I couldn't be happier.

Let me start this by saying my son just started Kindergarten at this school. I agree that the principal is amazing and the programs are progressive. On paper this school is everything I could have hoped for but in experience i've had an unsettling time. On the third day of school my son lost his lunchbox. When I asked the teacher "who montiors lunches?" she told me she wasn't there it was 2 aides and that he had his lunch when he left her classroom for the Cafe. However when I met with the principal later the teacher had written a statement that she WAS with him at lunch and even witnessed him eating. My son told me he didn't get lunch and we found his full lunch box in the office. I guess i'll never know what happened or if he really got to eat that day but i'm beyond unsettled that the teacher was either dishonest with me or her principal (she told us 2 different stories!). I haven't asked about switching classrooms yet but I AM considering moving my son. It's made me very sad as i'd rather he stay where he started but I feel that I can no longer trust what his teacher says. I'm giving this school a 3 overall but I may move my son.

What can one say about an admin. staff teacher staff and a principal that far exceeds any expectations? HTES! I have two children attending HTES and I couldn't be happier about the elementary school experience my children are enjoying. They love going to school! As a parent volunteer I can say with confidence that the HTES staff is a group of professional down to earth people who really care about the well being of our children. Mrs Marlow is an incredible human being and the most amazing principal! I feel so blessed that my children are HTES students!

I went here 5 years ago when it first opened ( i was a fourth grader and had a winder experience. Mr. P is awesome!!! And Mrs. Feibus in 3rd grade is the best teacher i've ever had!!!

I have two children at HTES and we have been there for 4 years. I have always wanted Private School for my children but we couldn't afford it when the time came. Mrs. Marlow far exceeds expectations of my family in her school. The community of teachers is a group of amazing and understanding people who are truly the cream of the crop. It is such a warm and professional feeling when you walk the halls. Mrs. Marlow is at the crosswalk every afternoon greeting parents and children as they go home. Sometimes in the morning she stands near drop off as well. Just a fabulous school and fabulous parent kids and staff! Very proud of our school!

Faced with the choice of finding a new private school or taking a leap of faith with public school when my two childrens' private Montessori curriculum ended in 2nd grade I chose Horseshoe. Wow! Both the teachers & the principal are far superior to those we interacted with at Montessori. I had no idea what my kids were missing until my family experienced the quality of Horseshoe Trails! Outstanding!!
