Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS)

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

Community ratings & reviews

Phoenix has a lot of parental involvement. This helps keep extra curricular programs alive such as FFA marching band theater and sports. Phoenix has had to endure many staff and curriculum cuts. With out the wonderful community surrounding this school there would be further unwanted cuts to school activities.

Mrs. Hale is AWESOME. Small school where people care. The Advisory system is a blessing. Great job PHS!

Great small-school atmosphere. Most teachers really connect with their students. New principal is very energetic and involved with activities and planning. Only drawback is drug/smoking activity in nearby neighborhood.
