Magee Elementary....The worst Kindergarten experience. No one knew where to go. Unfriendly staff The principal confused about security. My son at 5 years old dismissed with out regard to whom was gonna pick him up. Luckily ('I found my 5yr old son on the corner before anyone.") They release children to anyone. The front office staff does not check I.D's or verify Emergency card information. Lack of everything basicly. Very disappointed on the school. It's unfortunate how other parents do not care about their child's school or even care what goes on. Parent's it's time to get involved and let the district know how you feel towards your child's school and principal. Or this will continue to go on for ever. It's a complete mess. My child is lucky to have an educator at home and a parent who actually cares about his fundamentals and developements.

This will be the second year my son attends Magee Elementary and so far the only thing I am disappointed in this school is the lack of communication with parents. I had no idea what date school began and what teach and class number my son would be in I had to call to get all the information. I give credit to the school psychologist and counselor when I needed to inform them and update them on my son ADHD when he first arrived at Magee they both were willing to help and advise me..sorry can't say the same for his 2nd grade teacher and principle. I am giving Magee one more year and hopefully it improves...
Staff is well below average no PTA. District don't care. And substitute teachers taking over since the 1st day of school because THIS school don't know when the real teacher is coming back. 1st grade kids walking out all the way to the street to look for their parents because Miss "H" won't look after them then blame the parents for not being on time to pick the kid. There's maybe 2 people in the front office that care and so far I know of 4 teachers that really CARE about the kids. Other than that Do your homework before you enroll your kids on this school...last year we had parents fighting outside of school grounds and it took a while for the principal to stop it...
Principal for 2010/2011 Mr. Ramirez is not there for the kids. He is there for his own agenda. He is not approachable has control issues and looks down on women. His motto is what I say goes. If you don't like it leave. I am truyly dissapointed this year. Our kids had no field trips this year. We used to have a strong PTO and he pushed them out as well. Ms. Gonzalez we need you back
My daughter loves her school and so do we. The teachers are very much involved and the staff is just as friendly. My daughter has excelled tremendously. We were thinking of moving from the city but we decided to stay becasue of Magee Elementary School. .
Why what happened? I felt the same at first but turns out my son's teacher and others made more of an effort to help him with his language skills. They brought him up a whole grade in reading that his other school that was part of LAUSD. His teacher offered her time after school 3 days a week for free and she got him into other classes that also tutored him. Email me if you don't want to public post. I'd like to know if I should look out for something I'm missing. Geminirat30@aol.com
I wont say much other than I wish I hadn't moved to this area and found myself HAVING to enroll my son in this school.
Mrs Gonzalez is truly the best at what she does not only for the students but her staff they always have smiles and are truly the hearts of the school i am so happy the my kids are apart of something so great thank you to all the teachers and staff and Mr. Knapp thank you for the running program keep up the good work and 'I miss Magee after three' .
My daughter started at Magee at the end of first grade and just graduated in June. I only wish that Ms. Gonzalez (principal) had gotten there sooner. She's already made lots of positive changes. And the school wouldn't be the same without Greg and his unwavering support for the kids. Parent involvement seems to be growing. Looking forward to going back to Magee when my little one starts there in a few years.
Magee has been a great asset to my childrens education. I currently have a child in the first grade and Ms. Escobedo has been a great part of my son's education.
I'm now on my 4th child at magee with one more still to go. I have to say I was disappointed with the way the school had turned since g. Nerio took over for ron colossimo. When he (rc) was there the school was phenominal. It had taken a turn for the worse (morale low & programs cut under gn)but now that there is a new principal there I am seeing a marked improvement among the teaching staff paraprofessionals & support staff. There seems to be a better mood among the student body as well. I think that with this renewed energy that seems to have taken the school by storm it should once again become the great school that it once was. They do need to bring back some of the aftershool activities however. The kids need an opportunity to be enriched outside the classroom as well.
Magee has excellent teachers and high test scores. My son really enjoyed the years attending this shool. He learned more than I could have asked for.
