California Standards Test (CST)

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

I concur with the statement made by the parent who posted a review on Jan 11 '09. Especially the opinion about the principle. SHe (the principle) has no empathy or concern for the students under her care and charge. Same goes for the VP and other members of administration. The auxilliary staff though are very helpful. The administration needs to follow the lead of the secretaries office assistants and (some) teachers. SHAME on the administration for not making Riverview Middle Scool a place of quality education as they promised the parents at the beginning of the year!!!

This school is very bad..the administrators especially the principal needs professionalism in service..I definitely regret putting my children in this school. Honestly I am so sad and disappointed. I never thought it was this bad.

The safety and discipline of students needs to be improved. Teacher Quality and Principal Leadership also need improvement.

There are not nearly enough extra curricular activities for kids at this school. I've had my eldest 2 boys in other districts. I find this school to be inadequate in most areas.

my children previously attended school in the Mt. Diablo school district. this school was far better all around. The classes are more chalenging. in the Mt. Diablo district my children got straight A's with no problem. At hillview they actually had to work much harder for an 'A'
