I have three children. One child is a sophmore another in the middle school and the third is in the junior school at SSA. These schools are amazing. First in the junior school they begin to mold your chid with a firm foundation for a successful life. The emphasis in K and 1rst grade is to learn to love to read. Every subject you have you must read to succeed. They also had my children writing and publishing books in K and 1rst. They teach children core values which they emphasize on a daily basis and at assembly once a week(Responsibility Respect Honesty Safety and Kindness.) These principles are needed on a day to day basis for people to work and live together. Repetition is the mother of skill and the key to all success. Shadyside has provided all three of my children a road and foundation for success.

School good quality but not superb. Expensive for what it has to offer. Athletic emphasis way overrated.

I currently have a child at the Shady Side Academy Junior School. Working in a field where I get to see firsthand various public school environments in Pittsburgh led to the choice of a private school for my own children. The experience has been a great one so far. The atmosphere at the school is welcoming and calm compared to the choas I have observed at other schools. All of the staff know you and your child by name. Parent involvement in the classrom is welcome and encouraged. The curriculum is phenomenal. Recess and gym still happen daily! I couldn't have asked for a better school experience. It is worth it.

I went to Shady Side senior school and recieved an amazing education. I am a freshman in college and Shady Side could not have prepared me more. The faculty is amazing and I have made amazing relationships with students faculty and coaches. I enjoyed they school and made some of the best friends I have to this day. I would recomend this school to any parent that is looking to send their child to an excellent public school.

My son and daughter received an excellent education here. The relationship between faculty and students made this a special experience for them. They are well-prepared for higher education especially in science/math areas and writing analytically. They were encouraged to particpate in activities clubs drama productions and publications. The athletic requirement helped them stay physically fit while working with another teacher out of the classroom their coach. Faculty were responsive to my requests but encouraged students to solve their own problems with the aid of individual appointed advisors. My children who recently graduaded from the school had a very positive experience. They can think for themselves read with discernment write coherent arguments and speak confidently with adults.

This school is so over rated. Save your money for college. My child has developed better in the public system.I can not understand what parents see in this school. I guess they think if they spend more money then they get a better education.
