Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP)

In 2013-2014 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. Currently, GreatSchools' ratings reflect 2013 MEAP results; ratings will be updated after 2014 Michigan Merit Examination (MME) results are released. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. In addition, they have recalculated past years' results using these new standards for proficiency, making the above year-over-year results comparable.

My daughter will be in her 3rd & final year at Pioneer. Her brother will be joining her in the fall. We are very pleased with the teachers staff & Principals at this school. The teachers go out of their way to make sure no child is lost!! There are wonderful after school & during school programs for everyones interests. I am proud to be a parent of now 2 great kids at this school!!! The teachers have helped to make sure the kids (6th graders) are not nervous in their 1st year & help prepare the kids for their High School years at the Park!!!

I went to this school for a year of middle school (I moved around a lot so I have others to compare it to) and I have to say it was a great school with a great curriculum. They have wonderfully creative ways of getting the children to learn and having fun at the same time. I made some friendships here I will never forget.
