California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

I had 3 children that all attended Roynan. If you are grooming your First grader to go to Harvard this is probably not the school for you. If you would like to see your child develop in to a tolerant compassionate inclusive human being who is successful because of character as well as academics you have come to the right place. Two of my children have gone in to the medical field and are extremely comfortable with people of all races abilities and walks of life. Roynan gave them a great start.

GO ROYNON RACOONS! I absolutely love Roynon. My oldest just started second grade and I just couldn't ask for more. Teachers truly care and always go out of their way (and pockets) to ensure the best quality of education. I will forever be greatful for the wonderful experience they've blessed my son with. THANK YOU ROYNON!

My oldest Son started in Kindergarten at Roynon and just started the second grade yesterday. It 's a great school and I am happy to say my youngest will start Kindergarten next year. Love Roynon's staff they care about the kids and their campus in general.

Roynon takes the time to nurture our kids not just educationally but artistically as well. Roynon isn't just a school environment it's a family!!

My daughter is in Kindergarten at Roynon and has had a fanastic year! Her teacher is amazing. She continually meets the needs of all of her students at all of their various levels in a happy fun and very musical approach. I see the principal and vice principal often on campus talking and even playing with the students. I am always given a warm smile from all staff. I rate Royonon excellent!! Go Racoons!!

I Just really love the school. All the teachers are so nice and understandingl. When my father died my son's teacher was soo understanding about the whole situation. I really appriciate all the hard work and effort the staff at Roynon put in. I cant wait untill I have grandchildren going to this school because I went there and so did my Mother

I have two children attending Roynon. Everyone here is excited to be here. The teachers are living in this community and it shows. This is a committed group of educators and no matter where I live my children will see Roynon through to their graduations.

The most caring and personable teachers and staff I've ever encountered. The activitys like dances and programs are the best. My kids can't wait to go to school!

It has been a wonderful experience for my girls at Roynon. The staff the teachers the daycare and the PTA helped my girls blossom.

This school has been a big disappointment although it is probably fine for most kids my third grader needs accelerated learning opportunities. Which have not been available. I am finding that the teachers just can t/won t take the time out to create a curriculum for the advanced students. The teachers and the school in general needs revamping. Monique Cain

This school was at one time a well led school with high expectations for student behavior. The administration clearly provides little to no support to their teachers in dealing with correcting or changing negative student behavior.

The Principal and staff at this school are outstanding. They have the best activities for kids I've ever seen at an elementry.I see the teachers at the school at all hours on their own time because they care and go the extra mile for my kids.

The lunch program is a problem. Many things are handled unprofessionally by the administration...seems like they are overwelmed with the amount of students at the school and just dont have the skills needed to deal with the situations at hand. Many situations are handled poorly.

My children have really enjoyed their years at Roynon. The teacher are very dedicated often working late hours and they have plenty of activities. I would like to see the GATE program continue to inprove though.

I have been very happy with my daughter's first experience at Roynon. She had a wonderful Kindergarten teacher who went above and beyond in all the activities she provided for her students. The teacher had high expectations and worked to help all her students meet the standards. Students were transitioned into a full day of school which allowed for the teacher to provide experiences in art music and movement. The school has a very involved and supportive PTA which provides added materials and activities for all students.

Roynon is a welcoming place with teachers who truly care about their students. Second and thrid grade students receive music training in the school's piano lab and all students use computers in the lab and in classrooms. Reading is a high priority for all grade levels.

The quality of the academic programs at Roynon are excellent. The availability of extracurricular activities is limited. Music is somewhat available during the regular school day. No Art programs or after school sports. A Math Club was there and was very popular and successful. As a parent I was very involved with volunteering in the classroom for 5 years.
