Awesome school. My child has attended all three years. The sixth grade teachers are nurturing and very structured. The seventh grade teachers are enthusiastic and really pass thaton to the students. The eighth grade teachers are powerhouses. The English teacher is Teacher of the Year in Montgomery County the science teacher is solid and prepared my child well for the ecology magnet program in PHS. The math teachers are incredible they leave no stone unturned and really hold the students accountable.

Love this school! We moved to Poolesville from another part of Montgomery County in large part because of our dissatisfaction with the MCPS schools serving our former neighborhood. John Poole Middle School has been nothing short of amazing... It is a small school - about 109 students in my child's grade. The principal is very caring yet still runs a tight ship. School is very organized - parents are kept well informed about what is going on via in person meetings (e.g. Orientation sessions) edline back to school night and the weekly newsletter the backpocket. There are numerous opportunities for students to get help - TAP time honework club and Saturday mornings.
This is a great school. My boys went to private school for 6 years. This school has been a great educational experience. The teachers push the kids and keep parents informed of current events. The school makes students strive to be their best. We love this school!
JPMS is located in a small community (Poolesville MD pop. ~6000) in Montgomery County outside Washington DC. Poolesville was rated by Washingtonian Magazine some years ago as one of the best towns to raise a family. The small town atmosphere and proximity to Poolesville High School which just became a whole school Magnet School allow parents to get involved in their children's education.
If you are looking for an extremely structured environment for your child this is the school for you. I find it overdone. I also feel the principal has made some very poor choices in hiring and seems ineffective in dealing with problems.
