What is the significance of the change from "single family" to "townhouse" ?

A single family home sits on its own piece of land. It is not attached to anyone else's residence. If you own a townhouse, you exclusively own only everything inside your interior walls. The land, the swimming pool, the driveways, etc are called common areas because each owner has an undivided ownership interest.
What do I have to do to have the ACTUAL sq. footage listed?

On Zillow under "Home Facts", you see "Public Facts" and "Edited Facts". The "Public Facts" shows 1770 sf while the "Edited Facts" shows 2370 sf. Apparently you were successful in listing your actual square footage under "edited facts". To change the "public facts", simply contact the San Bernardino County Tax Assessor at 909-866-0165. Do you have the required permits for your addition? You can contact Bldg and Safety at (909) 866-0170.
