Bought a Condo home in 2014 in Journal Square, Jersey City, NJ.
My husband and I cannot recommend Ana Saba highly enough. From the day of our first house viewing, she was super-professional, highly knowledgeable, eager to tune into our preferences and concerns -- and all together fun to be with. She answered all our questions patiently and helped us gain a good understanding of the market, never in the slightest way 'pushy' or impatient. If we weren't sure about or did not quite like something, she would always try to better understand what we were looking for and taylor her next recommendations based on our feedback, rather than trying to change our mind.
After 18 months of viewing properties with her, we literally found our 'dream' apartment. She was absolutely instrumental in the negotiating process, especially with more than one offer on the table. Her advice was based on sound expertise and solid experience as well as careful consideration of all individual sale specific variables. She was key in our successful closing on the apartment.
My husband and I have been looking for many years and come in contact with many different brokers. Ana's professional expertise and personal integrity really stands out and we believe it was to a large part through her perseverance and guidance that we truly found our home.
From the initial interview to closing date, she sold the condo in only 3 months. We had multiple offers and an accepted offer within 10 days of the condo listing. She was very helpful during the process and was always available and responsive to any questions/requests. I highly recommend her.
Quick, easy review - We love her, she was professional and extremely capable and we would not hesitate to recommend her to our family or friends AND, most importantly, WE would use her again if needed. That's the short version. If you want more details, read on.
I was preparing a review for Ana when I came across a review that, frankly, mystifies me because my experience with Ana has been nothing short of perfect. All I can think is that the person who wrote the negative review did not clearly understand the limits of what a realtor does and where the relationship ends. I mean, buying property isn’t like buying a pair of shoes that you decide don’t work so you return them. Once you have the deed in hand, the game is over. Who can possibly predict that an appliance will fail? Uh, that’s why you pay for a home inspection! Even then, the inspection report doesn't guarantee ANYTHING and clearly states that appliances are beyond the scope of the inspection! Actually, even the person who wrote the negative review admits that s/he should have had an inspection so how do you blame the realtor???? if it was your own avarice and stupidity that caused the problems? You see why I’m a little confused about this negative review. But on to my own review....
About ten years ago, my now husband and I decided to move in together and ended up renting an apartment from Ana Saba. We wanted to live in JC for a while before committing to a purchase so we found an apartment in the area we thought we would focus our search in. We rented for one year while we searched for a home and ultimately found a home and bought it. What does this have to do with Ana? We RENTED our apt. from Ana but PURCHASED our house using another realtor. We didn't know that Ana was a realtor. We thought she was just renting her own apartments. What a BIG misunderstanding. The other realtor was only interested in the sale and her commission. She was the poster child for what gives realtors a bad name. She actively worked to hide information from us about the house we bought as well as providing us with extremely poor recommendations for inspectors and attorneys (people we believe were "in on the deal"). It all worked out and we ultimately fixed the problems but at a huge expense. We wish we had used Ana... When we decided to move again, we didn't hesitate for a minute to contact Ana to help us find a new home.
Because Ana personally owns a number of properties in town (remember, our first experience in Jersey City was renting one of Ana's apartments), she is intimately familiar with most of the neighborhoods. (We were only interested in JC so we don't know about her knowledge of other cities in the area). She seems to know EVERY building in the city. When we would suggest a building to go to look at, she would never say no, but she made it clear in the most respectful way that perhaps it was not the best choice for us. She worked hard to find something that was in our price range and in an acceptable building, neighborhood and location for our needs. Ana understood what we were looking for and worked hard to find just the right place. Not an easy task since there was little inventory available. When we zeroed in on one particular building, we couldn’t find anything available so Ana took the initiative to write a letter on our behalf to see if anyone was willing to or thinking of selling. We did find a new place and are closing on it at the end of this month!
We cannot recommend Ana enough. We found her to be well informed and aware of the rules and regulations of her profession - can you believe that she actually READS the documents for the purchase or sale of a property? In our experience, she was BETTER informed than the seller's realtor AND their attorney! Experience is something that you cannot buy and Ana has it – both personal and professional. Priceless.
If you are interested in checking out the possibility of living in Jersey City (Jersey City was a compromise for us as I lived in Central Jersey and my now husband lived in Tribeca – We LOVE living here, but that’s another blog) give Ana a call. You won't be disappointed. Oh, also, Ana habla espanol! I imagine she speaks Portugese, French and God knows what else. Clearly, if the need arises again – and we hope it does not – we will be calling Ana.
Bottom line is that Ana was not only smart, professional and helpful, she was fun to work with and we honestly count her among our friends now. How often can you say that? Thanks Ana, for all your good work and help!
BTW, this review website only allows the reviewer to choose one category for the nature of the interaction you had with the person you are reviewing...It isn't really fair because in our case Ana was our landlord, she helped us find tenants, helped us find a place to rent in an emergency, helped us sell, managed our property while we were abroad for a year AND helped us locat
Ana Saba was exceptionally kind, helpful and professional during the long process of selling our house in Jersey City. We were unlucky enough to put the house on the market at the worst time of the housing crash. Ana worked very hard getting exposure for the house, holding open houses almost every week and listing the house on line in all the most productive places. After many months, the economy was clearly not in our favor, so we took the house off the market and waited. When we listed it again after a year and a half, we did not hesitate to give Ana the listing because of our very favorable experiences with her previously. This time, after the market had begun to recover, we had three offers in a week and took the highest one, a full-price offer. Ana handled the negotiations and guided us skllfully through the entire process. We had our closing last Friday, and could not be more pleased with Ana's contributions to the sale.
Ana Saba is a True Professional: I live in CA. In July, 2011 I needed a realtor to help me sell my home in Jersey City. I found Ana through my best friend who is a realtor in VA. She interviewed at least 10 realtors before choosing Ana. It turned out to be a great choice. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and dedication Ana showed in handling my sale. I did not have problems communicating with Ana even though I was in Ca and had never met her. Selling a home long distance can be a challenge, but Ana made the process very painless. I retained Ana for 4 months and she sold the home within 4 months, a real miracle in this challenging market. I highly recommend Ana Saba for your real estate transactions. Onome, Marina, CA
I met Ms. Ana Saba several years ago in my first purchase of a home in NJ and I was so impressed with her honesty, responsibility, charm and professionalism, that she has been representing me in other purchases and sales since then. In a sector full of charlatans that only want to get a commission, Ms. Saba stands out for being truthful and upfront. I highly recommend her to any buyer, seller and real estate agency.
