I cannot describe the amazing experience we had with Andrew Turczyn in selling our Southwest condo. We never expected for the home selling process to go as smoothly as it did and braced ourselves for the occasional bump in the road. From start to finish, Andrew was nothing but professional, honest, and forthright. Andrew educated and prepared us, so there were absolutely no surprises—a huge relief for first-time sellers. While we are sure he has many other clients, he treated us as if we were his top priority. And most importantly, he went to bat for us on many fronts and went above and beyond the call of duty. If you want an agent who will advocate for you and help you strategize to get the most for your home, and a “no hidden costs; everything included” experience, Andrew is the agent for you.

We've already recommended Andrew (and Slate) to several friends and colleagues looking to buy a home in the DMV. We first got to know Andrew when he was the Property Manager of a condo we rented. In that role, he was so attentive, responsive and thoughtful - he even left us a house plant as a gift after a service visit. When it came time to buy, he was our first choice.
If you're a first-time homebuyer, Andrew starts with a comprehensive walkthrough of the buying process, terminology and trends in DC real estate. He'll patiently answer your 10,000 questions with a sense of humor. Andrew starts by showing you a few houses in your price range to get an idea of what type of home you're looking for. After that, he'll send you houses he has identified and he's great about showing you homes that you've found online. He was available to us almost anytime we wanted to see some properties - even bringing coffee on early mornings.
For us, the process involved visits to over 25 different properties and two offers. When it came time to make an offer, Andrew was exactly the type of Realtor you want in your corner. He was thorough and honest in explaining the paperwork and process - but a firm negotiator when dealing with the seller's agent. Our purchase almost fell through because of some unpredictable behavior by the seller, but Andrew spent the entire day on the phone with their agent securing the deal.
When you buy a house, you work with a lot of different people - mortgage agents, contractors, movers, etc. Almost all of them require constant micro-management to make sure things get done correctly. You'll never have to micro-manage Andrew. He is a great ally in this process. We highly recommend him.

Andrew was referred to my wife and me through a close friend, and we quickly discovered that he is an extremely knowledgeable realtor. My wife and I were first-time home buyers, and Andrew guided us effortlessly through the process, helping to alleviate much of the stress and uncertainty in first-time home buying. Andrew was able to answer any question my wife and I had. For example, even though I was utterly unfamiliar with sales contracts, Andrew had no problem walking me through our contract clause by clause and explaining every aspect of it. I should also mention that Andrew, through his negotiation skills, managed to extract some significant concessions from the builder, saving us money in the five-figure range. He is extremely personable and dependable to boot. Without exception, Andrew met up with my wife and me at our convenience, at a time and place of our choosing. I will avail myself of Andrew's services for all my future real-estate transactions, and I highly recommend him.

07/10/2012 - user745474Sold a Condo home in 2012 for approximately $300K in Southwest Waterfront, Washington, DC.
From our first meeting up until closing on our new home, Andrew was a pleasure to work with. He took time to listen to us and get to know us. This became invaluable in finding properties that were right for us as a couple. A realtor is someone with whom one ends up spending a lot of personal time, so it was a great plus that we enjoyed Andrew's company. He is personable and professional. Among his strengths as a realtor are his attention to detail, frank advice, and his strong advocacy on behalf of his clients.
Andrew helped negotiate the highest sale price to date on a one bedroom, no parking condo at our old property and negotiated (to our knowledge) the largest closing cost credit to date at our new condo. Our sense is that Andrew is a perfectionist and takes on the interests of his clients as his personal mission.
We highly recommend Andrew and already have done so to friends and acquaintances. Thanks, Andrew!

We would highly recommend working with Andrew. He helped us list and sell our first condo. We were largely unsure about the process, and he took the time to answer all of our questions. We really benefited from his expertise. In addition, Andrew was always responsive during the entire process, which really alleviated my concerns. We will be recommending him to friends and family!

06/08/2012 - user2281974Bought a Condo home in 2012 for approximately $500K in Capitol Hill, Washington, DC.
Andrew was a buyer's agent for me and was a huge help through every stage of the home-buying process. He really knows the neighborhoods, the buying process, etc., and made each step really easy. I had worked with other good agents when I bought and sold a home in the past and would rate Andrew at the top of the list. I would definitely work with him again and would recommend him to friends or family. My banker, who works with a lot of agents, also mentioned that he was impressed with Andrew and would like to work with him again.

Andrew worked withme on the purchase of a new condominium on Capitol Hill. He was very knowledgable about the process and worked with me every step of the way to get to a quick closing. He successfully worked with my bank and the seller's broker to work through any issues that came up throughout the process. In addition to his assistance on the buying side, Andrew was able to rent out my existing condominium during the slower winter months.

02/17/2012 - user2921015Sold a Condo home in 2010 in Southwest Waterfront, Washington, DC.
In this real estate market we were very worried about whether we would be able to sell our condo. We had outgrown the 1br/1ba condo in Washington DC and were looking to move to something a little bigger. This was our first home and having no experience selling a home we had no clue about all the steps needed to sell. It can be overwhelming.
Once we found Andrew, it was like having a really good coach guiding you through the process and it made a tremendous difference. From the time we listed to the time we closed it was about 6 weeks.
He's professional, trustworthy and responsive. We feel very lucky to have found Andrew and you can count on him to navigate you through this process.

My wife and I were married in May of 2010 and like all newly weds, wanted the dream home to start a family in. Not thinking we would by buying a home just three months after getting hitched, we became very overwhelmed. We immediately reached out to Andrew after hearing outstanding reviews around his service, knowledge and professionalism. Andrew provided us with exactly what we needed, when we needed and was exceptional in all facets. Andrew helped take the nervousness out of the picture, set all appropriate expectations and not once over promised. My wife and I are in love with our home and without Andrew's work ethic we undoubtedly wouldn't be here. I have and will continue to suggest that all looking for a home, reach out to Andrew for an outstanding and professional experience.
As always Andrew, thank you!

We could not have been in better hands when buying our first home. Andrew was immensely helpful at every stage of the process. He took the time to get to know exactly what we were looking for, helped us find a wide range of options to consider, was outrageously patient as we took time to make up our minds, and helped us seal the deal on a home that's perfect for us. When making this type of big decision, there's nothing more comforting than knowing you have someone who is an advocate for your needs from start to finish.
