BACKGROUND: A graduate of Evergreen State College, Leah takes a special interest in our marine and shoreline environments in Kitsap County. Prior to real estate, she worked in HAZMAT response with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration and spearheaded a non-profit oil spill response cooperative for the San Juan Islands. In addition, she was selected to a Bainbridge Island citizen's committee for the update of the Master Shoreline Plan. All of these experiences increase her knowledge of the issues special to the sale and purchase of waterfront properties.

RELOCATION EXPERT: Leah has traveled extensively with her children, having lived and worked in Europe and other regions of the United States.     Sold a Condo home in 2013 for approximately $350K in Bainbridge Island, WA.
    I am a very busy guy. My time is valuable. I am handling this transaction as part of an estate. I don't live near the property and I understand very little about real estate or the local market. . I needed someone who would come in, take command and deliver results. Everybody I know suggested "their" agent. I ended up with 21 recommendations. I interviewed five in-person after setting up a rating system. Applewhite got the listing. What did she do different than the others?

    She started by asking my communication preferences, email, text message, phone ? How often should she communicate and what events should trigger a text message?

    She was honest. She said the property was a wreck and it needed some TLC if it was going to sell. In her proposal she suggested 3 local painters, 3 local carpet companies, landscapers and house cleaners and a list of tasks that would maximize value.

    Finally, she agreed to facilitate the upgrades( contractor access to the property, final inspections and design suggestions if I selected my preferred subcontractors. She knew I was too distant to make this happen myself.

    She kept her promise. The prep was painless and took half the expected time to complete

    Conclusion to this process? The property sold in 5 days for the full asking price, all cash, no contingencies.

    Applewhite provided the game plan, executed it flawlessly and delivered exactly what she promised.

    We were totally ignorant of the area, coming from the east coast, and Leah was patient, knowledgeable and honest.
