Team reviews

My wife and I highly recommend Barbara and Corey Kohut, the best realtor team in the area. We met this dynamic duo trough our daughter and her husband who worked with Barb and Cory in buying their Oak Park home earlier this year. They were so happy with team Kohut, we didn’t even bother considering anyone else when it became time to buy our Berwyn. I asked what in particular did you like about working with the Kohuts? They mentioned several things - Attentive without being pushy. Initially they were only looking at houses so Barb listened carefully to what they needed and didn’t bother them until she had a a solid suggestion. This made the house hunt very efficient. Considering my kids' hectic work schedule, the Kohut’s mindful attention was exactly what they needed. Attention to detail. This was the kids first trip through the new home buyer’s anxiety swamp. So much to know, so much to learn and it all seem far to risky. The Kohuts quiet, confident competent manner provided the exactly the guidance and support needed to keep the kids sane, safe and secure in the biggest purchase of their lives. Follow up. The Kohuts monitored every step of the process, keeping the kids informed as to developments, outlining next steps, and addressing even their tiniest concern quickly and patiently. Advise. This is tricky. Advice can be good, bad or just plain wrong. The Kohuts stuck to their knitting, advising expertly about market conditions, the mortgage process, interest rates and the negotiation process. Negotiation and communication are their strongest points. Changing homes if awash with anxiety which can quickly lead to misunderstandings and doubt. The Kohuts kept communication open, accommodating and fair for all parties. With their guidance, the entire process was so smooth, my daughter paraphrased Chicago Cubs Allstar Ernie Banks, “Let’s buy two!” Well, that was their experience. That wasn’t ours. Ours was better. We were under a time restraint. Through blind luck, we were able to sell our Oak Park home directly to a buyer but we had to find another house fast Transitioning houses and get tangled and very expensive if the timing fails. The Kohuts sensed our urgency and responded accordingly. Their attention to detail was constant, following up at every turn and offering thoughtful accurate and realistic advice. And we got the perfect house for us. We could not be happier. So there you have it. When working with the Kohuts home buying is so easy, you also may say, “Let’s buy two!” John & Karen

Showed home in 2015 in Chicago, IL.

My husband and I worked closely with Cory. When we began our house hunt, we interviewed realtors in hopes of finding a good one. Initially we went with one who was highly recommended and had won many awards. Please don't be fooled by awards. It was such a disappointed experience. We stopped seeing this particular realtor for a number of reasons and found Cory, who from the start was awesome. He spent so much time with us, on the phone and so much time showing us houses. I felt like he got a real feel for what we wanted and needed and then really worked hard to find it for us. He offered great suggestions and feedback. He was willing to negotiate for us, and was not intimidated or afraid. My biggest compliment to Cory is his honesty. I trusted his judgement and feedback, and he really works hard to work for you. He knew the areas well, and if he didn't know a particular area he was honest about that. He gave great suggestions on how to find information and where to start or look. It always felt like Cory was looking out for our best interest. If he ran across a house, he would contact us and let us know we should move fast and see this one, or merely point out houses that might be of interest to us. Seeing houses with him was easy, and he was readily available. He is knowledgable and explained many things to us. I had purchased a house int he past, and had a horrible experience with that realtor. Cory would take his time to educate us as well on foreclosures, short sales, purchases, etc. I would highly recommend Cory Kohut to anyone. I feel lucky to have worked with him  More Less

Sold a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $275K in Oak Park, IL.

I began working with Cory and Barbara Kohut towards the end of May 2014 when I decided to sell my home in Oak Park. They gave me an extensive list of things that I should do to make more home more saleable. Since I was in no hurry to move, I worked with a local handyman to get my home ready for sale. I got rid of much clutter and thought that the home had a lot of appeal when I listed the home in early November. During this process I was keeping in contact with Cory Kohut. Initially I listed the home $10000 more than was suggested by Cory. Cory held several open houses and there was a lot of traffic in viewing the home. After a couple of months I reduced the price of the home by $10,000. Towards the end of February 2015 I received an offer for the home. Through negotiations between the buyer’s agent and Cory we came to an agreed purchase price that I was satisfied with. The buyer’s had some problems in getting their credit approved for the FHA mortgage and Cory handled himself professionally during this process. They finally got approval and my house closed on 5/1/15. I found Cory to have very good knowledge about the real estate market in Oak Park and the surrounding Western Suburbs. I would certainly recommend Cory and Barbara Kohut to anyo0ne interested in buying and selling a home in the Western Suburbs.  More Less
