Ratings & Reviews

First of all, if you're buying a house, the chances are really good that you are experiencing some kind of "trauma," in your life. You're downsizing or you’ve had recent financial loss or gain, you were recently promoted or, God forbid, fired, recently divorced, recently married, recently remarried, recently had twins, recently widowed or recently out of the blue decided you no longer want the house you're in, but another one. These situations can be disorienting and can affect a person’s ability to make good decisions. When my husband(we were in the recently remarried camp) and I were buying our first home together I shudder to think what we would have done without Betsy. I'll never forget dragging her into a house I was thinking about because I liked the neighborhood. The minute she walked in the door she said, "There's water in the basement, I can smell it. Look at those pet stains on the hardwood floors, there are drainage problems in the back yard and it's overpriced by $20,000." She was right about all of that and I am so thankful I didn't buy that place! Betsy knew I was in a hurry. I yearned for a home. My husband Billy would have agreed to a Quonset hut if he thought it would make me happy. We needed a non-anxious presence to steady the ship. That is Betsy Kelly. I’ve talked to many other people who feel the same way I do. She’s a life long Memphian, she knows the neighborhoods like the back of her hand. She knows the entire city. She knows people. She has an instinct for guiding her clients toward a place they can belong to, not just a house they can afford. She sees the big picture. She is focused, positive and attentive even if the process becomes challenging at times. If I had to choose one word to describe Betsy Kelly I’d choose tenacity. Tenacity. Tenacity. She will not let go, give up, or give in, until you are satisfied; until you are at home in the house where you know you belong. Melinda Shoaf Kolb, Memphis, TN

Sold a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $325K in East Memphis-Colonial-Yorkshire, Memphis, TN.

A lifelong resident and civic-minded citizen of Memphis, Betsy brings wonderful insight on the pulse of the Memphis real estate market. We have conducted multiple home sales/ purchases with her over the years in various areas of the city and Betsy has been spot on in her handling of these properties. She is that rare blend of a caring human being while still being a shrewd, sharp negotiator. It is apparent that she commands respect from clients, other agents, lenders and closing attorneys. Betsy has navigated us successfully through some very tricky transactions; we wouldn't buy or sell a home in Memphis without her.

Sold a Single Family home in 2008 for approximately $200K in East Memphis-Colonial-Yorkshire, Memphis, TN.

I have worked with Betsy to purchase two homes and each time she has been my guide to doing things right and negotiating the best price. She helped me with my first home purchase and was patient throughout the process -- that is saying a lot when you are buying a home for the first time since I had LOTS of questions. Best of all, I got an excellent price. When it came time to sell that house, I called on Betsy again -- it was during the market downturn so it was a challenging time to sell. However, my house sold in 6 days and, again, I received a great price on the sale!

Bought a Single Family home in 2009 for approximately $125K in East Memphis-Colonial-Yorkshire, Memphis, TN.

My wife and I had a very limited window of time during which we needed to find our first home in Memphis. As we were moving south from Michigan, we heavily relied on the knowledge and expertise of our realtor to assist us in finding a suitable home. Betsy came highly recommended by multiple individuals, and ultimately choosing her was one of the best decisions we have ever made as a couple!

We had a strict limited budget at the time of our search, and Betsy ably worked within our limitations to show us a number of excellent homes at our price point in decent neighborhoods. She constantly reminded us of the importance of resale value, and she knew exactly where we should look.

The house that we ultimately purchased wasn't even listed yet. Sensing that we weren't completely settled with our final options, Betsy took us on a little drive through a lovely, stable neighborhood, saying, "You never know..." Indeed we ended up driving past what was to become our future home, and Betsy was able to show the house AND negotiate our offer within a matter of hours (the "for sale" sign had only JUST been placed in the yard).

Simply, our house hunting success was, hands-down, due to Betsy's knowledge of the market and her unflappable perseverance. When the time comes to upgrade, we will, without hesitation, choose Betsy, and we can recommend her highly without reservation.
