Showed home in 2011 in Westland, MI.
Brett Phillips, Nice guy, nice office and seemed to know his stuff. BUT.... we are first time home buyers and we went out looking at homes with Brett three times. He seemed knowledgable about loans and the whole PROCESS of things. On our 4th set up to look at homes on a Saturday, we had to cancel because of work issues about 3 hours before we where set to meet. Now, I normally would wait at least several hours or the next day to hear back from Brett but not this time, about 5 minutes after I sent the email he called me and you could tell he was upset about us canceling. He didn't seem to understand that my boss was making me stay at the job because of a call off,(to him it seemed more important for me to quit my job than to cancel with him) I apoligized and told him we could set something up for Monday anytime. He sure let me know I wasn't a priority, he said he would be to busy and would call me maybe by mid-week, Was I surprised to get a call on Monday telling me he no longer wanted to work with us, that he wasn't the right person for the job?? SO, my warning to anyone if your looking for someone to be there to help with the search for homes, if you chose Brett make sure you don't have issues with maybe having to miss a appointment time or I guess be ready to find a home within 3 times out. I felt like he let us down and as if he wasted our time. Not a good person to have by your side in house searching. Go with someone that is going to be understanding and stand by you in the difficult time of searching for your new home. Its a big decission and should be done with someone thats going to be understanding and make you feel like a priority not with an agent just doing his job looking at the bottom line. Sorry Brett but I would NEVER recommend anyone to you. I found you by looking at the nice comments online about you, so I hope someone will see this and not make the same mistake I did.

Bought a Single Family home in 2007 for approximately $400K in Davisburg, MI.
Used Brett a couple of years ago as a buyer. I would never use him again. It seemed he was more interested in his commission than anything else. Poor knowledge of the details which need immediate attention in a home and will cost a buyer money in the near future. If you do use him MAKE SURE TO USE A THIRD PARTY HOME INSPECTOR. DO NOT USE ONE THAT HE RECOMMENDS. Good luck, and if I were you I'd look somewhere else.

Bought a home in 2011.
I worked with Brett as a buyer. He was very honest. I found a house I was in love with. He took me in the basement and outside to show me the land was shifting and the house would not be stable. He said he could not in good conscious sell me the house. He could have made an easy sale, but instead we spent several more weeks looking for the perfect house. Which I found. Thanks Brett for your knowledge, patience and honesty. I have already recommended him to others.

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $175K in Canton, MI.
This is the second home purchase I've made with Brett over the past several years, and I couldn't be happier with his level of expertise, personal attention, and knowledge of the area. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a realtor who's professional, yet personable at the same time.

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $200K in Plymouth, MI.
My wife and I chose Brett to represent us on a recommendation. It was likely the best recommendation we have ever received. He has many many years of experience in real estate transactions and knowledge of the area we were looking. We were immediately confident that he wasn't trying to get us to buy any house or the most expensive house, he wanted us to find something that we really loved and were totally comfortable with. My wife and I weren't even 100% sure of what we would like best but Brett took time to really find out what we liked and didn't like by showing us different homes and really paying attention to our reactions and what we had to say about them. He listens to you he doesn't talk at you. He also knows a home thats no good when he sees it and let us know right off the bat after we see it. He is very good with pointing out problem areas in a home that we may not notice and has lots of great ideas about renovations so he can tell you what he thinks about a homes potential. The research and paper work and negotiation process is extremely intimidating but Brett made it easy for us to get through. I know how the search to buy a home can go poorly and I was lucky to have Brett. My experience couldn't have been much better.

Sold a Single Family home in 2008 for approximately $100K in Farmington Hills, MI.
I highly recommend Brett to help you with buying or selling a home, or both!

In 2008, Brett helped me to buy and sell an investment home. He found the property, provided recommendations for contractors, and then helped me sell the home. I made more than 20% profit on the deal! During the buying process, he found the home and was able to negotiate a buying price, so that I could get a great return on investment. When I sold the home, his negotiating skills were great again.

When purchasing the property, he knew what was going on at each step of the process, from the signing of the purchase agreement to the closing. We took me through each step (the purchase agreement, inspection, appraisal), and before closing went through all the documents with me. This way, at the closing, I was confident in what I was signing.

When it came to selling the home, he was honest with me from the beginning about his commission and the other fees that would be involved with selling the property. Again, he took me through the process, keeping me informed of where the buyers were at on their end. There were no surprises at closing.

Since that time, I have purchased one other investment property in 2010 and am in the middle of another negotiation on a third property. Both experiences have gone smoothly.

Brett was extremely attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable through a complex (but successful!) short sale process. Clearly willing to go the extra mile for clients. Would use again and recommend to anyone.

I have a decent amount of experience with Real Estate Agents in both the Commercial and Residential Markets. After being dropped by my previous residential agent (due to reasons I still don't understand*) Brett was recommended to me by a previous client of his.

In any case, Brett is now my agent for life. I have explained to others that he acts more as a buyer's advocate, looking out for the best interest of the client, rather then a typical agent looking for a big commission. I assume he would do the same for a seller.

Since I placed my first phone call to him I have been very impressed with his professionalism and knowledge. I even tried testing him with Real Estate Market questions and he had answers to them all (without the usual agent BS.)

He found the right house for me within a week. He knew the proper market values and was able to give me recommendations of what to offer that would be in my best interest as a homeowner and investor.

Knowledge, Honesty, Professionalism, and the right house at the right price. What else could I ask for?

Would I refer him to others? I already have. And those I referred him to are extremely happy with his services too.

My only complaint is that I am unable to retain him for my employer's commercial property accounts.

I could write more, but I do not have the time.

I would recommend Brett to anyone, anytime. Also, and I have never given anyone 5 star reviews, but I just cannot find any reason to give less.

* My previous agent called me "out of the blue" and stated that he no longer worked with clients such as myself, and I should find another agent. He was inconsistent in his reasoning, and the best I could figure he had probably stumbled upon some big deal and no longer had time for smaller clients. He was rude and did not even bother to offer a recommendation.
