Regarding the MLS fees.  My Husband and I get a double dose of MLS Fees, as we are both REALTORS.  Only one of us logs on to the MLS.  The other one never uses the MLS website, and does not even know how to use the token, yet we have to pay for two because our broker must make sure each of us are signed up and paid our fees for the MLS. We are a big family at our brokerage, so I am not complaining about my broker as she is just doing what OKCMAR requires.  It is really a catch 22, as a licensee we can sell property and all that, that entails without being a member of OKCMAR, but we must be under a brokerage.  Then in order for the broker to utilize the MLS all licensees are required to be members of MLS, even if one does not even utilize their membership.  Being in the real estate business is a huge investment, with the MLS fees, the supra key, paying to be a licensee, state&national dues, throw in a monthly fee for a website, marketing property, advertising, signing up for leads, so forth and so on, and don't forget the taxes. . . we will be lucky to be able to stay in the business.The thing is, we love helping people.  The Bible says serve others, what better way to be a servant than to assist a client attain their real estate needs, whether it is a family looking for a home, or a client looking for an investment property.  In selling  or buying, we provide a service to others, and this is what we want to do.  I just hope we can make it through the first 3 years with the expense of it all.

Technology Institute 2009Harness the Power of Technology in OKCTwo days of classes offered.Phill and I attended all day April 2, Thursday, and Friday 1/2 day.The speakers were Jerry Rossi and Dick Betts.  Both speakers were absolutely awesome.We learned a lot of information, and we wished we could have attended every class.  We really regret not being able to attend the Dick Betts Smart Phones for real estate and for business.  We hope Dick Betts will be back soon, and that he will offer these classes again.  Some classes coincided at the same time, so we had to make a choice.  I overheard so many good things about the smart phones class that I truly regret not being able to attend.On the other hand the classes we did attend with Jerry Rossi and Dick Betts were very informative and entertaining.The Best of all God has to Offer,TheresaPhill&TheresaThe Slocum REALTOR Team
